The Patient Services House Manager serves as a key operational and clinical leader supporting staffing, patient safety, capacity management, patient flow, and emergency response across the Burnet campus. Often described as the "charge nurse for the charge nurses," this role collaborates closely with nursing leaders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery across the organization.
This position provides hospital-wide leadership during complex clinical and operational situations, supports patient flow and staffing decisions, serves as an administrator-on-site for emergencies and disaster response, and acts as an advocate for patients, families, and staff.
Schedule & Hours
- Night shift position.
- 3x 12-hour shifts per week
- 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Approximately 2 weekends out of every 6
Job Responsibilities
Leadership
Provide leadership for clinical nursing practice, patient care delivery, staffing resources, patient flow, and organizational situation awareness activities. Serve as the administrator-on-site during emergencies and disaster response, support operational decision-making, foster collaboration across departments, and participate in organizational committees and improvement initiatives.
Performance Improvement
Monitor patient flow and organizational situation awareness processes, analyze performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and participate in system-wide initiatives focused on operational excellence and patient care outcomes.
Clinical Operations
Serve as a nurse liaison during traumas, Code Blue events, and Medical Response Team calls. Coordinate resources, support patient placement activities, assist with complex admissions and transfers, and provide operational guidance during after-hours and high-acuity situations.
Patient and Family Advocacy
Advocate for patients and families, support resolution of concerns, provide administrative assistance, facilitate communication needs, and promote patient-centered care.
Staffing and Resource Management
Allocate staffing resources based on patient census, acuity, and budgeted staffing plans. Collaborate with nursing leaders to ensure appropriate staffing and patient care coverage across the organization.
Compliance
Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support compliance initiatives, operational dashboards, corrective action plans, readiness activities, staff competency efforts, and collaboration with organizational partners to sustain compliance and quality outcomes.
Interprofessional Practice
Demonstrate consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all aspects of practice.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Master of Nursing OR Bachelor of Science Nursing AND Master's Degree in a related field OR
- Active plan to complete Master's Degree within 3 years of hire.
- 5+ years of related healthcare experience required.
- Current license to practice in the state required.
Additional Preferred Skills
- TCI training required.
- Comfortable responding to behavioral crises.
- Able to provide guidance during complex clinical and operational situations.
- Comfortable making independent decisions during nights and after-hours operations.
