About this role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial and accounting functions of a growing real estate organization with multiple divisions and market locations. This role will provide financial leadership, ensure accurate and timely reporting, support operational decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial functions, accounting processes, and operational procedures across multiple divisions and market locations.
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close , including journal entries, projections, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Analyze key performance metrics including ROI, gross margin, overhead expenses, and operating margin .
- Lead quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Manage trust accounts and property management accounting procedures .
- Oversee monthly journal entries and reconciliations by division and market location.
- Provide financial and analytical support to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and improved operations .
- Assist with back-office operations including salaries and commissions, sales and deposits, inter-company transfers, and related accounting functions .
- Monitor compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
- Ensure financial responsibilities and reporting are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Lead, train, and support accounts payable and bookkeeping staff, as well as third-party specialists .
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and technology, including integration between accounting and operational software.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting professional , preferably in real estate or property management.
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting, property management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting .
- Experience supporting multiple divisions, locations, or lines of business.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and develop accounting team members.
- Strong technology skills and the ability to understand and improve integrations between accounting and operational software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet financial deadlines.
