About the Role:
As an Experimentation Intern at Dow Jones, you will focus on understanding reader behavior and optimizing the subscription journey through testing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will gain hands-on experience designing, tracking, and evaluating A/B and multivariate tests across our iconic consumer brands, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and MarketWatch.
Role based in New York City, NY. Must work from the NYC office 3x a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
This internship is embedded within the Subscription Audience team and provides cross-functional exposure to teams across the organization (Acquisition, Engagement, Subscriber Revenue, Retention, Marketing Operations, Brand Marketing, Product, etc.).
You Will:
Research industry trends and evaluate competitor tactics to pitch your own test ideas, seeing your hypotheses evolve from an initial concept into a live digital experiment.
Manage the end-to-end experiment pipeline by setting up cross-platform automations that keep tests moving smoothly from backlog grooming to real-time status updates.
Build out a smart, data-rich experiment repository that maps test results to specific site features and conversion levers to easily calculate win rates and overall CVR impact.
Partner with analysts to monitor live A/B and multivariate tests, diving into behavioral data and user funnels to uncover what drives readers to subscribe.
Translate complex experiment results and performance dashboards into clear, exciting takeaways for cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and the Newsroom.
You Have:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field (Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related fields).
Coursework or foundational knowledge of experimentation principles (hypothesis testing, A/B testing concepts, or statistical significance).
Basic foundational knowledge of SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
Exposure to or strong interest in learning experimentation and paywall platforms
Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets for data manipulation and analysis.
Ability to synthesize experimental data into clear, easy-to-understand recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity.
Curiosity about digital audience behavior, user experience, and subscription growth strategies.

Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate degree program
Graduating in Dec 2027 – July 2029 (U.S.)
