About the Business Area

Pharma Technical Operations (PT) manufactures and delivers Roche’s ground-breaking therapies to patients around the world. PT is involved in producing every Roche medicine – from the development process through clinical trials – and continuing through product maturity.

- The Global Function of PTR secures global approvals for groundbreaking treatments, influences regulatory environments, and safeguards our ongoing license to operate.
- The PTN Function brings together the PT Drug Substance Manufacturing Network, i.e. the Sites producing Drug Substance for Roche products. It includes the process of creating the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) that gives a medicine its therapeutic effect.

Together, PTR and PTN employ ~2,700 people globally, with key hubs in Switzerland, the US, Germany, Singapore, and Canada.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Enterprise Business Partner for PT, this role supports the Global Heads of PTN and PTR and their Leadership Teams. It translates business needs into strategic P&C priorities and leads the Site P&C Business Partners across Drug Substance manufacturing sites.

As a wide-scope partner, this role carries elevated enterprise responsibility—leading change initiatives, cross-functional people streams, Work Product Teams, and global squads. The role is expected to champion the integration of cutting-edge AI tools and digital solutions into everyday P&C practice to accelerate insights, enhance operational agility, and elevate strategic decision-making. This position serves as a trusted strategic partner and coach, advancing global organizational design and effectiveness, fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, and securing future enterprise talent and capabilities.

Business Acumen

- Aligns P&C strategy to overarching business objectives; guides talent management, workforce strategies, organizational design, and reward solutions in partnership with P&C Chapters and SMEs.
- Applies deep enterprise knowledge, P&C metrics, and data-driven principles to diagnose complex organizational topics.
- Recommends work process improvements to leverage human capital and drive tangible enterprise value.

Leadership

- Strategic sparring partner and coach for fostering a leadership culture in line with the Roche leadership framework.
- Translates long-term vision into actionable initiatives, leading Work Product Teams and global squads to achieve results.
- Diagnoses P&C needs and drives interventions for talent retention, change leadership, engagement, and effectiveness.

Strategic P&C Insights & Innovation

- Leverages internal and external metrics, benchmarks, and evidence-based insights to drive strategic, value-adding decisions.
- Identifies root causes of operational and organizational challenges, co-creating targeted solutions with key stakeholders.

Who You Are:

- 15+ years of progressive P&C or HR consulting experience; Biotech/Manufacturing background preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required; Advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in applying modern AI tools and digital solutions to elevate strategic coaching and decision-making.
- Systems thinker with strong authenticity, inclusion focus, and ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex global matrix environments.

This position is located in South San Francisco with an expectation to spend the majority of the time in the Genentech Campus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $198,400 to $368,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
