About the Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing to lead purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, procurement operations, and cost management across the organization.

This is a hybrid position based in Buena Vista, Colorado . Candidates located in Denver or Colorado Springs may also be viable and should be prepared to travel to Buena Vista as needed.

The Director of Purchasing will play a key leadership role in developing a scalable procurement function, strengthening supplier partnerships, improving purchasing processes, and ensuring the organization has the materials and resources needed to support its operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute the company's overall purchasing and procurement strategy

- Lead supplier sourcing, selection, negotiation, and relationship management

- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors and suppliers

- Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, lead times, and service agreements

- Identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and reliability

- Develop purchasing processes, policies, controls, and performance metrics

- Monitor market conditions, material availability, pricing trends, and supply chain risks

- Partner with operations, manufacturing, construction, finance, and leadership teams to align purchasing with business needs

- Improve forecasting, inventory planning, purchasing efficiency, and material availability

- Evaluate supplier performance and address quality, delivery, pricing, or service issues

- Develop contingency strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions

- Lead and develop the purchasing team as the organization continues to grow

- Analyze purchasing data and provide leadership with actionable insights on spending, savings, supplier performance, and procurement risks

- Support long-term business planning and organizational growth through strategic procurement initiatives

Requirements

- Proven leadership experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or strategic sourcing

- Experience managing supplier and vendor relationships in a construction, manufacturing, building products, or related environment strongly preferred

- Demonstrated success negotiating pricing, contracts, and purchasing terms

- Strong understanding of supply chain operations, material procurement, inventory management, and vendor performance

- Experience developing and implementing purchasing processes and best practices

- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate costs, margins, and procurement opportunities

- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing purchasing or supply chain professionals

- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments

- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a growing organization

- Proficiency with ERP, purchasing, inventory management, and Microsoft Office systems

- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with regular presence in Buena Vista, CO

Benefits

- $130,000–$170,000 base salary , depending on experience and qualifications
