We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Operations Project Execution Manager to lead the cross-functional success of construction projects across strategic market growth opportunities at our McMinnville, TN facility, reporting to the Plant Manager. In this role, you'll oversee the execution of complex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving operational excellence, while leading project execution teams and coordinating project documentation. You'll work closely with internal teams, designers, suppliers, and construction partners to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and within scope. This is an opportunity to bring strong project management discipline to high-complexity, multi-stakeholder projects in a fast-paced construction and manufacturing environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD & OWN
- Manage the delivery of projects to meet schedule, cost, quality, and safety objectives to the full satisfaction of customers, leading project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation through discussions with clients to define scope, deliverables, and timing
- Review projects with the Project Team and meet regularly for updates on deliverables against plan
- Lead delivery of project scope and management of risk, including proper management of deliverables within estimated timeframes and notifying management of issues that could impact cost or schedule
- Arrange and lead meetings to coordinate the requirements of, and progress by, designers, suppliers, and construction teams
- Maintain close liaison with project teams on design, schedule, costing, and related issues; provide regular project reports to management; monitor, evaluate, and report on cost and schedule; manage changes; review cost variance reports and recommend corrective actions
- Evaluate project plans at every stage for risk and develop mitigation plans
- Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders, arranging and chairing meetings to efficiently and effectively meet project objectives
- Guide and direct discussions involving internal staff, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers
- Coordinate the preparation of project turnover documentation, ensuring completeness, and document and address outstanding project deficiencies
- Manage and report on project performance to management and other stakeholders
- Authorize project expenditures (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, expense claims) within limits of delegated authority
- Oversee multiple projects and remain accountable for all facets of assigned project(s)
- Own internal and external project communication through frequent reporting, informal and formal presentations, and written reports
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, setting priorities, evaluating and managing risks, and monitoring performance
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations
- Identify, communicate, and proactively mitigate project risks and issues
- Coordinate internal teams and external entities to ensure seamless execution
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project performance and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to project management best practices and organizational standards, maintaining awareness of technological advancements in project management, engineering, and construction fields
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of construction and heavy industrial experience in project management or a related leadership role, including developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in contract bidding and award processes, and managing projects through planning, execution, and closeout phases
- Knowledge of project management principles, specifically the 5 primary project phases (Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, Closeout)
- Experience managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality
- Knowledge of business principles to provide project cost accounting, cost estimates, and forecasts as they relate to project management
- Knowledge of commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance, and health and safety
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements
- Experience managing projects of increasing complexity, normally defined by multiple-contract, multiple-stakeholder projects with schedule constraints
- Ability to appropriately manage approximately 5 projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Asana)
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to project sites and client locations
WHAT SETS YOU APART
- Master's degree (MBA or related field)
- Project Management Certificate (PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
- Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, logistics, or technology
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous process improvement methodologies
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment
- Experience implementing and using artificial intelligence (AI) platforms to enhance project efficiency
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts
