Position Summary:
The Well Care Medical Assistant supports providers and clinic nursing staff in delivering preventive and wellness-focused care to patients across the lifespan. This role assists with patient intake, routine screenings, immunization support, and health maintenance activities that promote early detection and overall well-being. The Well Care Medical Assistant prepares exam rooms, manages supplies, coordinates patient flow, and ensures accurate and timely documentation. Working collaboratively with the care team, the position enhances clinic efficiency and patient experience through clear communication, organization, and a patient-centered approach aligned with Trinity Health’s standards for high-quality preventive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and room patients for wellness, preventive, and routine health maintenance visits, obtaining histories and completing preliminary assessments.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks such as vital signs, point of care testing, immunization support, and documentation within scope and department protocols.
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness and compliance with infection control standards.
- Support scheduling, referrals, follow up communication, and patient education to promote adherence to preventive care plans.
- Accurately document clinical information and maintain confidentiality in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Assist with operational needs including occasional travel to satellite locations.
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current North Dakota State registration as UAP Medical Assistant Registration or certification as a Medication Assistant III by ND Board of Nursing
- CPR certification required within orientation period
- Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department
Educational Requirements:
- N/A
Experience Requirements:
- One year or more of MA experience preferred
- Clinic experience preferred
- Coding experience preferred
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- May require travel to satellites
- Computer use
Physical Requirements:
The Well Care Medical Assistant frequently stands, walks, and moves throughout the clinic to support patient care and workflow needs. The role may require assisting patients with limited mobility, handling equipment, and carrying or organizing supplies of light to moderate weight. Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills are essential for completing clinical tasks, documenting patient information, and interacting professionally with patients, families, and staff.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in an outpatient preventive and wellness clinic setting with typical exposure to clinical equipment, disinfectants, and various patient health conditions. The role may involve supporting immunization workflows, routine screenings, and periods of increased patient volume. Adherence to safety protocols, infection prevention practices, and PPE requirements is essential to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.
