About this role
MAJOR FUNCTION :
An EMT educator in NJ is responsible for teaching and supervising EMTs which include initial training, refreshers, and continuing education. Key duties include preparing and delivering instruction, evaluating performance, administering and assessing, and ensuring all training complies with state and national regulations like those from the New Jersey OEMS and NAEMT once certified as an EMT Instructor.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) and be at least 18 years old to be eligible for hire. Please note that in accordance with New Jersey state regulations, candidates specifically applying for or transitioning into EMS/EMT Instructor roles must be at least 21 years of age
- Currently working as a practicing EMT or Paramedic as documented by your Chief/Director on letterhead, verifying you have been working at least 12 hours a week for at least 36 consecutive months within 1 year of applying to become an instructor.
- Experience teaching drivers training preferably EVOC, Initial EMT training program, EMT Refreshers BLS competencies or NAEMT courses, preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current certification as a New Jersey EMT or higher preferred. New Jersey EMT or Paramedic License for a period of at least 36 consecutive months. Licensure must be maintained throughout the instructor process
- AHA BLS Provider Card
- Must obtain New Jersey EMT Instructor certification within one year of application approval.
- Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements established by the applicable certifying authority
