M&T Bank is hiring a Financial Advisor to grow and manage a book of business across the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia market. This role offers access to a well-established referral network through Retail, Business Banking, and Wealth partners, providing a steady flow of opportunities so you can focus on building relationships, deepening client connections, and delivering personalized financial solutions.
What You'll Do:
- Build and grow a book of business through referrals, proactive business development, and partnerships with retail branch teams throughout the DC and Northern Virginia market
- Deliver personalized investment and insurance solutions tailored to client goals and financial objectives
- Partner with branch, business banking, and wealth professionals to identify and develop new client opportunities
- Conduct portfolio reviews and provide strategic recommendations to help clients grow, preserve, and transfer wealth
- Manage the full client relationship lifecycle, from initial discovery through ongoing advice and service
What You Bring:
- 2+ years of sales, business development, relationship management, retail banking, financial services, or client-facing experience
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and develop new business opportunities
- Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while leveraging internal partnerships and referral sources
- Passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals through personalized advice and solutions
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience
Licenses Required:
- Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66
- Life/Variable Insurance license

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $72,200.00 - $120,300.00 (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
