Job Summary

The Manager, Marketing Cloud is a member of the Audience Development team. They manage Sesame Workshop’s Salesforce Marketing Cloud program, drive the strategy and execution of campaigns across email, SMS, and personalization channels to drive audience growth, donor growth, and engagement. The Manager helps shape Sesame Workshop’s marketing cloud program through testing, application of channel best practices, and creative innovation, working cross-functionally with stakeholders to achieve editorial excellence across newsletter, SMS, and personalized content products.

Responsibilities & Delivery

Key outputs and responsibilities of this role include:

• Own the end-to-end campaign development process across email, SMS, and personalized content from creation through deployment, including content development, build, deployment, and post-campaign analysis.

• Develop compelling content across newsletter, SMS, and personalized content products with a focus on driving conversion, audience growth, donor growth, and engagement.

• Build and manage automated audience journeys in Journey Builder, from mapping the logic through ongoing optimization of multi-step, multichannel automations.

• Ideate, own, and implement A/B tests across channels to grow audience, donors, and engagement, fostering a test-and-learn culture within the team.

• Measure and establish KPIs across email, SMS, and personalization channels; deliver weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting of results, describing trends and sharing key insights with stakeholders.

• Identify effective approaches to better target subscribers via segmentation and personalization tactics across Salesforce Marketing Cloud, working closely with Salesforce administrators and development teams.

• Serve as the organization’s internal Salesforce Marketing Cloud channel ambassador, ensuring alignment with best practices in creative, templates, content calendar, segmentation, dynamic content, SMS compliance, and testing methodologies.

• This role may perform other related duties as needed to support team and organizational priorities.

Engagement

Key internal and external partnerships include:

• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve editorial excellence across newsletter, SMS, and personalized content products and to source impactful, engaging copy and visuals.

• Coordinate with Salesforce administrators and development teams to implement and maintain segmentation, personalization, and multichannel journey strategies within Marketing Cloud.

• Consult with and advise stakeholders at various levels of marketing cloud knowledge, clearly presenting data-driven recommendations and representing a point of view persuasively.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align email, SMS, and personalization campaigns with broader organizational goals and mission priorities.

Required Qualifications

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of email marketing best practices including creative, templates, content calendars, segmentation, dynamic content, and testing methodologies.

• Working knowledge of SMS/mobile messaging best practices, including opt-in management and compliance with TCPA and CTIA guidelines.

• Familiarity with personalization and dynamic content tools within Salesforce Marketing Cloud (e.g., Journey Builder, Personalization Builder).

• Data-oriented; able to interpret metrics and large data sets and make decisions based on analysis.

• Understanding of deliverability, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and GDPR-compliant practices.

• Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS coding.

• Excellent communication skills; able to make sound recommendations and clearly present a point of view to audiences with varying levels of marketing cloud knowledge.

• Extremely detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a self-directed work style.

Years of Experience

• 3+ years of overall marketing experience with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or a similar marketing automation/ESP platform

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Mobile Studio/MobileConnect, Journey Builder); Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification a plus.

• Proven track record of growing engagement and revenue across email and SMS channels, with experience applying personalization or dynamic content strategies.

Sesame Workshop Hybrid Work Policy

This position is based at our headquarters office in New York (Manhattan) at 1900 Broadway, New York, NY, and follows a hybrid work model. In-office requirements vary by role and employee group, and currently range from two to five designated in-office days per week.
