The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Senior Elasticsearch Engineer to lead advanced search, analytics, and data engineering initiatives supporting mission-critical acquisition and contract lifecycle management systems. In this role, you will serve as a technical authority on the Elastic Stack, drive architectural decisions, and oversee modernization roadmaps that impact large-scale government environments.

Responsibilities:
· Architect, design, and optimize Elasticsearch clusters, indexes, mappings, and data models at scale.
· Develop advanced dashboards, scripted queries, alerting strategies, and analytics in Kibana.
· Lead the development and governance of ingestion and extraction workflows using Apache NiFi.
· Drive enhancements to the Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE).
· Oversee performance tuning, cluster health, resilience, and observability across distributed environments.
· Provide technical leadership within SAFe teams, advising on system design, data patterns, and integration impacts.
· Apply enterprise-level data security, compliance, and migration best practices.
· Maintain deep awareness of the latest Elastic Stack capabilities, evaluate new features, and develop multi-phase upgrade roadmaps, including impact analysis for application code, APIs, integrations, and external dependencies.
· Collaborate with product owners, developers, and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, coordinated adoption of new platform capabilities.
· Mentor mid-level and junior engineers while establishing best practices and engineering standards.
· Develop long-term technical roadmaps aligned with evolving mission needs.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Will consider experience in lieu of degree.
· Eight or more years of progressive engineering experience, to include 2 or more years of hands-on professional Elasticsearch work.
· Expert-level proficiency in Elasticsearch internals, cluster tuning, scaling strategies, shard allocation, and snapshot management.
· Advanced experience with Kibana analytics, scripted fields, pipeline aggregations, alerting, and observability.
· Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills as well as experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
· Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, and EKS, or equivalent cloud-based data platforms.
· Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architectural direction.
· Willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Desired:
· Experience with vector search engines, embeddings, similarity algorithms, and hybrid search approaches.
· Familiarity with machine learning-driven observability, including anomaly detection, log and metric correlation, and predictive alerting.
· Experience with relational database management system platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
· Proficiency in Groovy, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation and pipeline orchestration.
· Understanding of containerized deployments and infrastructure as code.
· Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
· Elastic certifications, such as Engineer, Analyst, Observability, or similar.
· AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect etc
· Experience with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, GitLab, or Jenkins.
· Background in machine learning or data science workflows.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work across diverse technical and functional teams.
· Proven success supporting or leading efforts in fast-paced, mission-driven environments.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$98,500-$206,800
