Lab Assistant, Part-time

Fremont Brewing Company is hiring for an opening in the Quality Lab. The Lab Assistant will report to the Director of Brewing Operations and will conduct daily routine analysis on finished product and assist the lab technician on duty. This position will be approximately 10-15 hrs per week, 2-3 days per week.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

- Run chemical analysis on beer with spectrophotometer; Acetaldehyde, SRM, IBU assay

- Conduct haze measurements on fresh and aged beer

- Enter data into quality database in a timely and accurate manner

- Complete weekly laboratory preparation including making microbiological media and prepping reagents

- Participation and assistance with the sensory program

- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory and workspace

- Help with weekly and monthly lab cleaning tasks and equipment calibrations

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements :

- Basic laboratory experience is preferred

- Maintain focus and accuracy in high-volume, repetitive tasks

- An obsessive dedication to quality and detail

- Competent use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

- A high degree of multitasking, and a strong drive to be self-motivated

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

- Flexibility in scheduling Monday through Friday

- Ability to work efficiently on a team as well as independently

- Ability to work safely around strong and potentially hazardous chemicals

- Observe and comply to all company safety standards

Physical Requirements:

- Standing for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)

- Ability to move heavy materials (lifting 50 lbs.)

- Climbing ladders in accordance with company safety protocols

- Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts

- Routine pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, climbing, bending, etc.

- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
