JOB SUMMARY
The Accommodations Staff position services, cleans, prepares, and resets guest rooms, cabins, tents, meeting spaces, restrooms, buildings, outdoor areas, and other assigned areas with an emphasis on striving for excellence and maintaining Forest Home cleaning standards.
This position participates in guest group turnovers (“Clean Sweeps”) and ongoing housekeeping operations to ensure Forest Home Ojai Valley facilities are clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for guests.
Working under the direction of the Accommodations Director, Recreation & Clean Sweep Lead, Assistant Clean Sweep Lead, and other members of the Ojai leadership team, Accommodations Staff complete assigned cleaning and facility preparation duties according to Forest Home cleaning standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning and Housekeeping
- Services and cleans assigned guest rooms, cabins, tents, meeting rooms, restrooms, buildings, offices, and other areas in accordance with Forest Home cleaning standards.
- Completes assigned daily cleaning task lists and duties.
- Performs cleaning duties including:
- Removing trash from buildings and surrounding areas.
- Dusting ceilings, walls, lights, furniture, shelves, and other surfaces.
- Removing cobwebs.
- Cleaning windows, baseboards, doors, and trim.
- Vacuuming floors and other surfaces as appropriate.
- Sweeping porches, walkways, and outdoor areas.
- Cleaning sinks, counters, fixtures, and other surfaces where applicable.
- Cleaning door handles and other high-touch surfaces.
- Properly uses, maintains, and stores cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Assists and supports the full-time Housekeeper as needed with assigned cleaning and housekeeping duties.
Clean Sweeps and Guest Group Turnovers
- Participates in Clean Sweeps to prepare facilities between departing and arriving guest groups.
- Completes assigned cabins, tents, meeting spaces, restrooms, and other facilities within established turnover timeframes.
- Follows established Clean Sweep procedures, cleaning standards, and checklists.
- Removes trash and personal items left behind and reports lost and found items according to established procedures.
- Resets thermostats and ensures lights and equipment are turned off as required.
- Closes and secures assigned buildings upon completion.
- Sets up, resets, and moves furniture as requested.
- Assists with seasonal or operational changeovers as needed.
- Works cooperatively with other Accommodations Staff to complete assigned areas.
- Reports incomplete areas or concerns to the Clean Sweep Leads.
Facility and Maintenance Reporting
- Reports facility needs, damage, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and needed repairs to a supervisor.
- Reports missing, damaged, or inadequate cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Reports areas requiring additional cleaning or attention.
- Assists with furniture setup and room configuration as assigned.
Safety
- Follows all Forest Home safety standards relating to assigned work responsibilities.
- Safely uses and handles cleaning chemicals, cleaning equipment, and housekeeping supplies.
- Follows established procedures for chemical labeling, storage, dilution, and use.
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
- Uses proper lifting and material-handling techniques when moving furniture, supplies, trash, and equipment.
- Reports unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, and other potential hazards promptly.
- Attends required safety meetings and training sessions.
Guest and Staff Service
- Relates graciously to guests and staff.
- Maintains a professional and welcoming attitude through performance, appearance, and demeanor.
- Provides excellent internal and external service while completing assigned duties.
- Responds professionally to guest questions and directs needs to the appropriate staff member when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supports and participates in staff spiritual life activities.
- Attends required meetings and training sessions.
- Assists with other Accommodations and housekeeping tasks as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience in camp operations, housekeeping, janitorial services, hospitality, accommodations, or a related environment preferred but not required.

- Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. daily.
- Has reliable means to be able to get to Forest Home in all types of weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times.
