About this role

As a Senior Tax Advisor, you’ll play a key role on our multidisciplinary team by contributing to the development of complex tax strategies and the formulation of high-value recommendations for clients of our partner network advisors at SFL and the Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network (DFSIN). You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary financial planning team where complementary expertise allows for the delivery of comprehensive support to clients. By collaborating closely with specialists from different fields, you’ll contribute to the development of integrated strategies that add value in an environment that encourages discussions among experts, professional excellence and the development of best practices. More specifically, you will be required to :

- Act as a go-to expert and resource person for the realization of complex taxation mandates that can have a significant impact on the organization, our partners and clientele
- Take on a leadership role for the planning, analysis and completion of strategic projects related to your area of expertise by influencing business directions and decisions
- Develop, review and present advanced tax recommendations, particularly regarding corporate reorganizations and tax optimization strategies
- Produce complex tax documents and analyses that require in-depth knowledge of taxation processes that apply to individuals, companies and trusts
- Contribute to the development, evolution and continuous improvement of the methodologies, tools, models, policies and practices that support the team’s activities
- Represent the team and the organization on committees and in connection with special projects, training seminars and relationships with strategic partners and external organizations.

What you bring to the table

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, law, actuarial studies, finance or a related field
- A minimum of six years of relevant experience in a role related to taxation and financial planning
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Specialization in taxation (AGD, master’s degree or CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program
- Advanced proficiency in French
- Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Strong knowledge of and ability to clearly explain tax concepts applicable to individuals, corporations, trusts, and estate matters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
