About the Role
The Marketing Automation Manager owns end-to-end execution of Happen Bank's multi-channel customer journeys across email, SMS, and push for Personal Loans, Collections, and DebtIQ in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). You'll be a hands-on builder responsible for designing, testing, and delivering reliable outbound marketing experiences.
Beyond campaign delivery, you'll help evolve our marketing capabilities from manual execution toward scalable automation, strengthening the journey architecture, deliverability strategy, and data flows that enable lifecycle programs to grow efficiently and reliably.

What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end build and execution of multi-channel customer journeys across email, SMS, and push in SFMC for Personal Loans, Collections, and DebtIQ
- Design and maintain scalable journey architecture, including trigger logic, suppression rules, and data flows that support reliable campaign execution
- Drive deliverability strategy, including IP warming, domain diversification, sender authentication, and reputation management, to protect and improve inbox placement
- Build responsive, on-brand email templates and implement dynamic content using AMPscript, Liquid, merge tags, or similar approaches to personalize messaging at scale
- Write and execute SQL-based segmentation and audience logic that powers targeting and personalization across customer journeys
- Partner with Data and Platform teams to strengthen automation architecture and move lifecycle marketing from manual campaign execution toward durable, scalable infrastructure
- Use AI tools to accelerate QA, personalization, and testing, identifying opportunities where automation can reduce manual work without compromising quality
- Monitor journey and campaign performance, translate results into clear recommendations, and ensure execution complies with applicable data privacy and marketing regulations

About You
- 4+ years of experience in marketing automation, lifecycle marketing, or a related field
- Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hands-on expertise with enterprise email service providers and marketing automation platforms, ideally Salesforce Marketing Cloud, with experience owning customer journeys end-to-end
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently translate segmentation and targeting logic into scalable audience definitions
- Strong understanding of deliverability fundamentals, including IP warming, domain reputation, and sender authentication, and how execution decisions affect long-term inbox performance
- You take ownership of build quality, proactively identifying and resolving issues before campaigns launch
- You collaborate effectively across Marketing, Data, Product, and Platform teams and adapt your approach based on feedback and context
- You actively look for ways AI can improve analysis, QA, personalization, and automation while applying sound judgment around accuracy, customer data, privacy, and where human validation remains essential
Nice to Have
- Experience with AMPscript, Liquid, or similar personalization technologies at scale
- Experience in a regulated industry, ideally financial services or lending
- Exposure to CDP or broader MarTech platform migrations
Work Location
San Francisco
The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. Happen Bank offers relocation, based on actual job level.

While the position will primarily work local hours, Happen Bank is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.
Travel Requirements
As needed travel to Happen Bank offices and/or other locations, as needed.
Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 135,000-159,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of Happen Bank's Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
