- Perform complex firetube and watertube boiler repair and installation, including burner removal and alignment, pressure-part preparation, tube replacement and rolling, fit-up, hydrotest preparation, and inspection support.
- Perform TIG, MIG, and stick welding; code welding; oxygen-fuel cutting; brazing; and complex fit-up within current qualifications and approved procedures.
- Apply ASME Section I basics, NBIC repair concepts, pressure-boundary awareness, safety-valve requirements, material identification, and weld-joint preparation requirements to assigned work.
- Diagnose boiler, burner, gas-train, draft, ignition, combustion, pump, level-control, feedwater, steam, hydronic, condensate, and auxiliary-equipment issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Work with process, forced-draft, premix, atmospheric, condensing, and electric boiler or burner systems within demonstrated qualifications.
- Read and interpret mechanical, pipe, and electrical drawings; identify control components; evaluate line/load conditions, motor starters, phase rotation, and basic instrumentation; and complete authorized control-wiring tasks.
- Execute advanced refractory scopes, including failure identification, material and anchor selection, installation planning, monitoring heat-up and cool-down cycles, and dry-out or bake-out activities.
- Install and troubleshoot deaerators, economizers, feed tanks, condensate receivers, feed pumps, regulators, low-water cutoffs, steam traps, pressure-reducing stations, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, separators, and return systems.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control Manager, Mechanical Operations Manager, project leadership, service coordination, engineering, and sales as needed to resolve field issues and support customer solutions.
- Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 mechanics and helpers; demonstrate proper methods; verify understanding; and reinforce safety, quality, productivity, documentation, and customer-service expectations.
- Identify changes in scope, schedule, materials, or field conditions and communicate them promptly through the established project workflow.
- Maintain required welding qualifications, complete assigned factory or technical training, and continuously expand advanced trade knowledge.
- Travel and work overtime as required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
