Senior Electrical Engineer / Professional Engineer (PE)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) with expertise in advanced technology, industrial, and mission-critical facility projects. This individual will lead complex electrical engineering efforts, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, and optimization of power distribution systems. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, industrial plants, and other critical infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

- Provide technical leadership for electrical engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff.
- Ensure engineering analyses, studies, and designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry standards.
- Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Conduct field visits to gather project requirements, assess existing conditions, and resolve technical issues.
- Support project planning, estimating, proposal development, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, civil, and structural engineers, architects, contractors, and owners.

Electrical Engineering & Analysis

- Develop detailed design packages and construction documents for: Low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems
- UPS systems
- Emergency generators
- Switchgear and switchboards
- Facility electrical infrastructure

- Create and maintain: One-line diagrams
- Three-line diagrams
- Control schematics
- Electrical layouts

- Prepare technical reports, project budgets, and executive-level presentations.
- Perform: Load calculations
- Capacity and demand studies
- Reliability and redundancy assessments
- Power quality evaluations

- Develop operating procedures and system documentation for critical electrical systems.
- Support commissioning planning, testing, startup, and closeout documentation.
- Perform electrical studies including: Short-circuit analysis
- Protective device coordination
- Arc-flash analysis
- Load flow studies

Electrical Distribution Design

- Design, modify, and upgrade electrical distribution systems, including: Switchgear
- MCCs
- Transformers
- Protective relays
- Circuit breakers
- Fuses

- Develop, review, and revise electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

Project Management

- Lead engineering projects through planning, design, construction support, commissioning, and turnover.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
- Coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support

- Investigate electrical system failures and operational issues.
- Develop practical, cost-effective solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
- Support root-cause analyses and corrective action plans.
- Provide technical recommendations for system upgrades and improvements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities power systems engineering and design.
- Experience with low-voltage power distribution equipment and systems.
- Working knowledge of: NEC
- NFPA 70E
- IEEE Standards
- Applicable local building and electrical codes

- Experience performing: Short-circuit studies
- Coordination studies
- Arc-flash studies
- Motor starting studies
- Power quality studies

- Proficiency with power system analysis software such as: SKM
- ETAP
- Similar modeling platforms

- Experience using AutoCAD and industry-standard drafting practices.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Park, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49.04 - $79.33/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
