As an Application Development Engineer, you will help shape how mission software is designed, delivered, and supported across a varied application portfolio. This role is central to establishing strong technical direction across software workstreams, ensuring that secure development practices are built into the process from the start, and guiding architectural decisions that reduce rework and speed the path to deployment.
Salary: 110,000 - 154,000
Responsibilities
- Lead the full software development lifecycle for GOTS, MOTS, and COTS applications across classified and unclassified systems.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for software configuration, installation, and support.
- Provide technical architecture leadership across software workstreams.
- Ensure secure coding practices and SBOM discipline are embedded into the development lifecycle from inception.
- Independently assess static code analysis findings.
- Validate DISA APP DEV STIG compliance within the team’s code base.
- Coordinate CCB submissions for software changes with awareness of configuration management baseline requirements.
- Provide oversight when SBOM reviews or OWASP Top 10 findings require architectural remediation to reduce rework and accelerate deployment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of application development experience, including experience leading application architecture decisions.
- Experience driving software changes through configuration-controlled releases and working with configuration management baselines.
- Experience supporting classified software environments.
- Strong background in secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
- Hands-on experience with .NET Framework, Azure, and Kubernetes.
- Experience working directly with security and compliance stakeholders and serving as a technical point of contact.
- Active Secret OR Top Secret clearance.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of DISA APP DEV STIG compliance.
- Experience with Apache Cassandra.
- Experience with Angular and jQuery.
