Overview:
WiredPeople, Inc. is seeking an advanced Medicaid Data Analyst to join our professional consulting team in supporting public sector health agency clients. State Medicaid programs manage complex, multi-billion-dollar budgets to provide essential healthcare coverage to millions of residents.
In this role, you will collaborate with state health department leadership, program administrators, and technical teams to transform vast administrative health data into accurate, timely, and actionable intelligence . Your data science expertise and analytical insights will directly drive evidence-based policy decisions, program evaluations, operational efficiencies, and compliance monitoring to improve public health outcomes. This is a full time position and it will be onsite in Tallahassee, FL. No remote or hybrid will be allowed for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze Medicaid claims, eligibility, provider, and encounter data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support program evaluation, policy analysis, and operational decision-making by providing actionable data insights.
- Design, develop, and maintain insightful dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Present complex findings and data-driven solutions clearly to stakeholders, internal teams, external partners, and leadership.
- Ensure all work complies with agency regulations, including HIPAA and state data governance standards, and document methodologies for transparency and reproducibility.
- Develop and validate data extracts for federal and state reporting, including CMS submissions and performance metrics.
- Assist in creating technical documentation for reports, data pipelines, and reporting logic.
- Apply machine learning methods where appropriate to enhance forecasting and risk stratification models.
- Support special projects, audits, and federal reporting initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of professional experience in data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in SQL/SAS and a working knowledge of Python for data manipulation and analysis.
- Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- A strong understanding of healthcare data, specifically Medicaid or claims-based data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with state or federal healthcare programs.
- Experience in a healthcare or Medicaid-related environment.
- Knowledge of Medicaid managed care, long-term services and supports (LTSS), or waiver programs.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Experience with machine learning or advanced statistical modeling.
