Gain Hands-On Experience in Healthcare Supply Chain
Are you interested in data analytics, inventory management, procurement, or healthcare operations? Join Children’s Wisconsin as a Supply Chain Operations Intern and gain valuable experience supporting the systems and processes that help deliver exceptional patient care.
This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals across Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Distribution, Warehousing, Invasive Services, and Accounts Payable. You'll build practical skills in analytics, process improvement, inventory management, and business operations while gaining exposure to the full healthcare supply chain.
Position Details
- Schedule: 15 to 20 hours per week
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid 2 days per week onsite
- Remaining hours worked remotely
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments
What You'll Do
As a Supply Chain Operations Intern, you'll contribute to meaningful projects that improve operational efficiency and support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyze, and prepare data to support inventory management activities, including PAR levels, unit-of-measure optimization, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Partner with department leaders to review, document, and evaluate current workflows and operational processes.
- Assist in developing reports, dashboards, and analytics tools that support departmental objectives and strategic decision-making.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Workday Strategic Sourcing contracts database.
- Collaborate with leaders across Distribution, Warehousing, Invasive Services, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Accounts Payable to gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare supply chain operations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects designed to enhance efficiency and service excellence.
- Complete special projects and other assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Completion of at least one year of a degree program in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration , or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of logistics, purchasing, business management principles, and business math.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accountability, professionalism, and service orientation.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and respond thoughtfully to the needs of internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word .
- Experience with Access and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
