Pipefitter Helper
Feldkamp Mechanical
Summary
Feldkamp Mechanical is seeking a hardworking and motivated Pipefitter Helper to support our pipefitting team on commercial and industrial projects. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in the mechanical trades. The Pipefitter Helper will assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, help prepare materials and equipment, and ensure jobsites remain safe and organized.
Responsibilities
- Assist Pipefitters with the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems.
- Gather, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
- Cut, clean, and prepare pipes and fittings for installation.
- Help assemble piping systems, valves, supports, and related components.
- Load and unload materials at jobsites.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Assist with pressure testing, inspections, and startup activities.
- Read and interpret basic drawings and instructions under supervision.
- Perform general labor duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous construction, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or pipefitting experience preferred but not required.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn the pipefitting trade.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and industrial environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed on commercial and industrial construction sites.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and moving mechanical equipment.
- May require working from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, or in confined spaces.
- Overtime and flexible scheduling may be required based on project demands.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to safely perform physical labor throughout the workday.
