The ~70,000‑square‑foot Manassas facility operates within Catalent’s Consumer Health portfolio, supporting programs from early development through commercial manufacturing and packaging. It is designed for dietary supplement and food‑safety cGMP operations, making it distinct from Catalent’s traditional pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing sites.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Sr. Process Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of hydraulics, belt systems, motors, and other industrial machine mechanisms. This role involves performing emergency and routine maintenance on manufacturing equipment, assisting production personnel, and ensuring minimal downtime. The position requires troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to keep equipment in top working condition.

Shift: Monday through Friday, 2-10:30pm
Location: Manassas, VA
100% Onsite

The Role

- Perform basic preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, and assist with small-scale process improvement projects.
- Build machine foundations, grind, and file machinery parts.
- Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
- Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
- Transfer equipment for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
- Use hand tools, measuring tools, welding, and brazing equipment.
- Maintain good housekeeping in mechanical and facility areas.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems including Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, conveyors, motors, and pumps.
- Assist plant staff with machinery adjustments and changeovers as needed.
- Report serious equipment malfunctions and suggest corrective actions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of repair shop, maintenance office, and storage areas.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP), and Food Quality Plan (FQP).
- Ensure high-quality production at every step.
- Participate in all required training to perform job responsibilities successfully.
- Experience with Volpak, Acma, Euromec, and Confitech equipment is highly preferred.
- Use advanced machine shop tools.
- Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

- 5 to 8 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role.
- Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience, or technical/vocational training.
- Background in industrial maintenance or skilled trades in the food industry.
- Effective communication skills, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting various types of equipment.
- Hands-on experience with current machinery or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
- Ability to run conduit and wire electrical control panels according to National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines.
- Ability to program Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and vendor documentation.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. The employee may occasionally work in high places, be exposed to chemicals, outdoor weather, extreme temperatures, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 100 pounds, and occasionally up to 1000 pounds. Regular walking, standing, talking, hearing, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing are required. Occasional sitting, tasting, or smelling may occur.

Preferred Skills & Background

- Pipefitting, plumbing, welding, and fabrication experience preferred.
