THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead BIOS Firmware Architect to develop and deliver next-generation BIOS for AI and accelerated computing platforms. In this leadership role, you will drive the design, development, debugging, validation, and deployment of system BIOS powering large-scale AI training and inference infrastructure.
As a technical leader, you will work closely with silicon architects, platform hardware teams, BMC developers, operating system engineers, ODM/OEM partners, and hyperscale customers to define firmware architecture, enable next-generation technologies, and deliver secure, reliable, and highly scalable GPU-accelerated server platforms.
THE PERSON
The Lead BIOS Firmware Engineer will provide technical leadership for platform SBIOS development, silicon enablement, reference code integration, and firmware architecture across cloud and AI server platforms.
You will lead firmware strategy through planning, design, development, bring-up, validation, customer qualification, and production deployment phases. You will mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and serve as a key technical interface between firmware, hardware, silicon, validation, and customer teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead architecture, design, development, integration, and maintenance of UEFI/BIOS firmware for AI server and accelerator platforms.
- Define firmware architecture and technical roadmaps supporting next-generation CPU, GPU, memory, and I/O technologies.
- Lead platform bring-up efforts from pre-silicon simulation through post-silicon validation and production readiness.
- Drive silicon enablement activities in collaboration with CPU, GPU, and platform architecture teams.
- Own implementation and validation of ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIe Gen5/Gen6, CXL, NUMA, memory, power management, security, and platform management technologies.
- Architect and drive RAS features including telemetry, diagnostics, error handling, predictive failure analysis, and recovery mechanisms.
- Partner with OpenBMC, Redfish, and platform management teams to deliver complete manageability solutions.
- Lead root-cause analysis of complex system-level issues spanning firmware, hardware, operating systems, and AI workloads.
- Collaborate with hyperscale customers, OEMs, ODMs, and ecosystem partners to support platform integration, qualification, and deployment.
- Conduct firmware architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design reviews while establishing engineering best practices.
- Mentor and guide BIOS engineers and junior firmware developers to improve technical capability and execution excellence.
- Influence platform requirements and contribute to future architecture decisions across AI and accelerated computing systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive expertise in BIOS, firmware, or low-level system software development experience.
- Proficient with technical leadership or lead engineering experience.
- Demonstrated success leading complex firmware programs from architecture through production deployment.
Strong experience with:
- UEFI/EDK II
- AMI Aptio BIOS
- AGESA and silicon initialization frameworks
- Platform firmware architecture
- Secure firmware design
Proficiency in:
- C/C++
- Performance tuning, Firmware debugging and optimization
Strong understanding of:
- x86 server architecture
- PCIe Gen5/Gen6, CXL
- DDR5/HBM memory technologies
- ACPI, SMBIOS, UEFI Secure Boot
- Platform security technologies
Experience with:
- AI server and accelerator platforms
- Board bring-up and hardware debug tools such as JTAG debuggers
- Hardware telemetry, diagnostics, crash analysis, and RAS features
- Root of Trust (RoT), measured boot, secure update mechanisms, and platform security architecture
BONUS SKILLS
- Experience with large-scale AI clusters and GPU-based server infrastructure.
- Expertise in firmware CI/CD and automated validation frameworks.
- Experience supporting server manufacturing, qualification, and deployment workflows.
- Contributions to open-source firmware projects including EDK II, OpenBMC, Linux firmware subsystems, or related communities.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
