Position Overview
Under the direction of the Athletic Program Coordinator, the Athletic Coordinator serves as the primary on-site operations representative during athletic events, tournaments, leagues, rentals, and special activities at the sports complex. This position coordinates daily facility operations, assists user groups and event organizers, ensures facility readiness, and supports overall event success.
Essential Job Functions

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for athletic events, tournaments, practices, and facility rentals.
• Coordinate with staff, user groups, officials, vendors, and event organizers to ensure smooth event operations.
• Conduct facility walkthroughs before, during, and after events to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of athletic fields, facilities, and event logistics.
• Monitor field and facility conditions and communicate operational needs to turf and maintenance staff.
• Ensure compliance with facility policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of sporting events, tournaments, ceremonies, and special events.
• Respond to customer questions, concerns, and operational issues in a professional manner.
• Maintain communication with supervisors regarding event operations, staffing needs, incidents, and facility concerns.
• Assist with crowd management, vendor coordination, and participant flow during events.
• Support daily operations of the sports complex including inspections, reporting, and administrative tasks.
• Prepare written reports and documentation related to events, incidents, and facility operations.
• Provide excellent customer service to coaches, athletes, officials, spectators, and visitors.

Must posses required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
• Knowledge of athletic facility operations and event coordination practices.
• Ability to organize and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to remain professional and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective working relationships with staff and facility users.
• Ability to enforce policies and procedures tactfully and consistently.
Education and Experience
High School graduate or equivalent. Experience in athletics, recreation, event operations, facility management or customer service preferred.
Required Licenses or Certificates
Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License
