About this role

Job Summary: The Coordinator-Echo Lab is responsible for a variety of Cardiac Diagnostic Lab (CDL) administrative support and clerical duties that promote departmental efficiencies. Assists the Supervisor - Echocardiology Sonographer in the coordination of workflow for the Sonographers- Echocardiology and physicians performing echocardiography in the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab. Works directly with the Supervisor-Echocardiology Sonographer and the Director of CDL/Cardio Vascular Lab (CVL) to coordinate sonographer's vacation time, on-call schedule and echo lab patient schedule. Performs transcription and typing of echo reports, scheduling patient appointments, phone coverage, preparation of quality improvement, and peer review reports for the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab. Assures all reports are completed and distributed to referring physicians in a timely manner. Maintains process to assure echo tapes and/or digital images are available for review as needed by Cardiologists. Assists with the implementation of new programs within the echo departments and utilized as a resource and training for other support staff. Coordinates and assists the Supervisor-Echocardiology Sonographer and the Director of CDL/CVL with servicing of equipment as needed. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum one year of experience in an inpatient care environment required. Minimum one year of experience with medical terminology and advanced secretarial skills preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
