About this role
Description
Do you want to help AWS customers and partners explore what comes next in cloud technology? The AWS Specialist and Partner Prototyping team works on engagements that establish the new technology horizon for our customers and partners. We build prototypes using emerging technologies that tackle the most ambitious and complex customer challenges. We are looking for a Senior Engagement Manager to own the full lifecycle of these prototyping engagements, from sourcing and qualifying opportunities through scoping, execution, delivery, transition and scaling to our customers and partners.
In this role, you will work alongside Solutions Architects and Applied Scientists on the team, as well as stakeholders across Specialist, Partner, Sales, and AWS service teams. You will convert bespoke prototypes into reusable patterns and surface gaps that inform AWS and partner offerings. Your ability to navigate high ambiguity, coordinate across multiple organizations, and drive results in uncharted technical territory will directly shape how AWS validates and scales emerging technologies for customers.
Key job responsibilities
- Source, qualify, scope, and manage prototyping engagements end-to-end on emerging technologies where no prior implementation exists, ensuring successful delivery and smooth transition to production teams.
- Collaborate with solutions architects, applied scientists, and stakeholders across Specialist, Partner, Sales, and AWS service teams to convert bespoke engagements into reusable patterns and identify gaps in AWS and partner offerings.
- Define and execute engagement strategy that complements product and go-to-market plans, leveraging generative AI fluency and cloud computing expertise to help customers adopt new technologies and unlock business value.
- Establish and maintain team mechanisms — including retrospectives, engagement tracking, and reporting — to continuously improve execution quality, scale, and forecasting accuracy for senior leadership.
- Mentor and develop team members while educating cross-functional stakeholders on how to effectively engage with the prototyping team's processes and solutions.
A day in the life
You will start your morning reviewing active engagement status and pipeline health, then join working stand ups with solutions architects, applied scientists from AWS and our customers/partners to unblock prototype progress. You might spend the afternoon scoping a new customer engagement on an emerging technology, followed by a retrospective to capture learnings from a recently completed prototype. Throughout, you will coordinate with partner and service teams to ensure insights from each engagement flow back into reusable patterns and product roadmap inputs.
