About this role
Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
The National Security team supports and augments federal agencies with expert-level cybersecurity services and is the lead for research and development efforts within Google Public Sector.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
- 5 years of experience in cloud security, application security, security engineering, computer and network security, or security protocols.
- Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with current polygraph.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with mobile device management.
- Identify security issues and implement and design security controls, tools, and services to improve security systems and processes.
- Embed end-to-end security guardrails directly into the SDLC, building automated evaluation pipelines, custom linting, and continuous validation tools for high-assurance code deployment.
- Architect, build, and maintain production-ready Terraform modules and deployment blueprints that scale core platform capabilities while enforcing zero-trust baseline configurations.
- Leverage Generative AI technologies to automate complex security testing, surface edge-case vulnerabilities, and identify emerging attack vectors beyond conventional scan coverage.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce technical security policies and configuration baselines across distributed multi-tenant and air-gapped cloud environments.
