About this role
Directs and oversees all operational functions of the department and administers applicable internal controls to safeguard County assets. Ensures statutory compliance with various laws, policies and procedures, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, ensuring budgetary compliance with adopted budgets. Management Scope: Manages exempt and non-exempt staff.
Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or in a job-related field of study. Six (6) years of work-related experience in a public sector, including two (2) years of management-related experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) preferred. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
