## Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 25 weeks of military technical training school, along with an additional 13 years of related experience is required. or 2 years of directly related non-military technical trade school or the equivalent experience, along with an additional 13 years of related experience is required. or Bachelor's degree in a technical field or the equivalent experience, along with an additional 9 years of related experience is required. Industry certifications are highly preferred.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Field Operator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: Installs and repairs equipment; instructs customers in equipment operation; provides technical assistance; checks equipment for malfunctions. Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs field activities including the installation, start-up, cutover, and checkout of newly installed systems; maintains, integrates, troubleshoots, tests, and services fielded systems/products at customer sites; and sets up and utilizes specialized test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctions
- Performs equipment/system acceptance testing, following established procedures.
- Provides technical support independently, displaying a high degree of resourcefulness and initiative.
- Assists in cable builds and fiber optic handling/splicing.
- Conducts site and equipment inspections to perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Implements test plans and procedures in accordance with contract requirements for the verification of deliverable systems.
- Documents failures and corrective actions in accordance with proper procedures, and makes technical recommendations based on this collective data.
- Performs modifications and field changes to installed equipment.
- Works closely with design engineering in evaluating product performance and conducting field trials.
- Conducts orientation and training of customers in the technical operation and maintenance of equipment, as well as over-the-shoulder/refresher training to users in the field as required.
- Interfaces with Customers, Military Personnel, Government dignitaries, External consultants/experts, and Internal technical staff.
- May mentor other employees.
- Assists management in reviewing maintenance contracts and complex system configurations, and prepares the field support section of certified proposals.
- Provides technical advice to lower-level Field Support Representatives when implementing moderately complex equipment installations.
- May represents the company at program and customer reviews.
- Recommends design enhancements to internal management and engineering.
- Security Clearance will be required; will require TS/SCI clearance based on program assignment.
- Travel may be required more than 30% of the time.
- May deploy to CONUS or OCONUS field locations.

Liaison: Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
- Considerable ability to act as a system technical advisor for all levels of customer leadership
- Knowledge and proficiency in soldering, mechanical assemblies, cable builds and fiber optic handling/splicing.
- Ability to work independently
- Advanced understanding of technologies associated with supported systems, and the application of these technologies within the customer environment, including detailed knowledge of system tactical employment configuration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of basic tool safety
- Considerable knowledge of construction safety
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Considerable knowledge of test and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Ability to use hand and electric tools, heat iron kit, bench vise
- Precision alignment of structures using optical and electronic instruments and tooling
- Skilled at onsite use of heavy equipment for large structures
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation

## Combined Salary Range
USD $56.73 - USD $60.84 /Hr.
