About this role
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically exceptional Data Platforms Integrator (Engineer 4 / Analyst 4) to serve as a trusted technical advisor in a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) capacity directly supporting the Government Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Next Generation Environment (NGE) leadership in the Missile Defense Agency.
About the Program Join a mission-critical, high-visibility program to architect, build, and secure the Agency’s Next Generation Environment (NGE). This initiative establishes a secure, resilient, and flexible hybrid, multi-cloud ecosystem designed to support national security objectives for years to come.
Within the NGE, data is the Agency's most strategic asset. Architecting and enforcing the Data Pillar of the Department of Defense (DoD) Zero Trust Strategy is vital to ensuring that mission-critical data is discovered, categorized, protected, and accessible only by authorized entities under continuous evaluation. As the Data Platforms Integrator, you will evaluate legacy applications, databases, and modern data stores across hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, on-premises), driving technical alignment with the DISA Thunderdome Zero Trust Architecture and enterprise data governance mandates
Position Summary In this role, you will provide critical technical oversight and integration guidance for the NGE Data Design Area. You will analyze existing application workloads, relational databases, NoSQL engines, and object storage tiers to establish cohesive data tagging, classification, data rights management, and dynamic access control mechanisms.
You will serve as the technical authority on zero trust data protection patterns—including data-at-rest encryption, automated data loss prevention (DLP), dynamic data masking, and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC)—integrating these controls with the broader NGE identity, network, and endpoint security layers. You will act as the key technical bridge between senior Government leadership requirements and the engineering solutions delivered by the integration contractor and vendor community.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical authority in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), assessing vendor-proposed database architectures, data storage solutions, and data pipelines against NGE requirements and DoD Zero Trust mandates.
- Perform detailed technical discovery and architectural evaluations of existing mission applications, database structures, and object repositories to identify refactoring paths and Zero Trust Data Pillar integration gaps.
- Architect and govern the implementation of data discovery, automated cataloging, data labeling/tagging, and cryptographic protection policies across hybrid multi-cloud enclaves (AWS, Azure, on-prem VCF).
- Ensure data platform solutions align with DISA Thunderdome capabilities, incorporating Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) data protections, Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) policies, and enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
- Design and validate Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) and Policy Decision Point (PDP) integrations for data access, implementing fine-grained ABAC, data virtualization, and dynamic data masking based on ICAM user attributes and contextual risk.
- Ensure all data platforms comply with DoD Data-at-Rest (DAR) mandates, Key Management Service (KMS) integration standards, hardware security module (HSM) backing, and JSIG / NIST SP 800-207 guidelines.
- Lead technical exchange meetings (TEMs) with integration contractors, database OEMs, and security vendors. Adjudicate competing technical approaches and resolve cross-platform data integration issues.
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline with 12 years of progressive engineering and architectural experience (or Master's degree with 10 years of experience).
- Data Integration & Storage Experience: Minimum of 6 years dedicated to analyzing, architecting, and integrating complex databases (RDBMS/NoSQL), storage tiers, and data pipelines across enterprise environments.
- Zero Trust Data Pillar Expertise: Demonstrated track record designing and implementing zero-trust data protection patterns, including automated classification, data rights management, dynamic access governance, and encryption.
- Hybrid Multi-Cloud Delivery: Hands-on experience architecting and securing data storage and analytics services across both AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Classified Environment Experience: Proven track record designing, accrediting, and operating data platforms within classified DoD (TS//SCI) enclaves.
Security Clearance & Compliance
- Clearance: Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance with current SCI eligibility (TS/SCI).
- DoD Compliance: Must meet DoD 8140/8570 requirements for an IAM Level III or IASAE Level II/III position. An active (ISC)² CISSP certification is required
Desired Qualifications (Highly Valued)
- AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty or AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection and Compliance Administrator (SC-400)
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- Hands-on experience with DISA Thunderdome zero-trust deployments, the DoD Data Strategy, DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture, and NIST SP 800-207.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DataOps automation using Terraform, Ansible, or Python data management frameworks.
- Direct experience designing data-at-rest (DAR) encryption solutions compliant with CSfC Capability Packages, JSIG PL-3/PL-4, and DISA Database STIGs.
- Prior experience in a SETA, A&AS, or direct engineering advisory role supporting Government Program Managers, Directors, or CTOs.
