Position Summary
The Maintenance Lead serves as a hands-on technical resource for the maintenance team and supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role performs maintenance and troubleshooting activities while providing day-to-day technical guidance to maintenance technicians and assisting with the coordination and prioritization of maintenance work.
The Maintenance Lead works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager to support preventive maintenance execution, equipment reliability, timely response to equipment breakdowns, and accurate maintenance documentation. This position helps reinforce safe work practices, maintenance standards, and effective troubleshooting techniques while remaining actively involved in equipment repair and maintenance activities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, service, and maintain industrial equipment, including motors, conveyors, PLC-controller equipment, electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other production equipment; serve as an escalation resource for complex equipment failures.
- Coordinate and perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Provide day-to-day work direction, technical support, and prioritization guidance to maintenance technicians based on safety, production needs, equipment condition, and repair urgency.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with plant supervisors and Operations, communicate equipment conditions and repair status, and minimize production interruptions or delays.
- Ensure repairs, preventive maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history are accurately documented in CMMS; review records for recurring issues and follow-up needs.
- Comply with and reinforce Company safety processes and procedures, including applicable OSHA, EPA, Lockout/Tagout, housekeeping, and safe work practices.
- Support root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions, reliability improvements, or equipment modifications to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager
- Conduct routine inspections of the building, grounds, machinery, equipment, and maintenance projects to identify needed repairs, unsafe conditions, or reliability concerns.
- Assist with spare parts, critical maintenance supplies, outside contractors, vendors, equipment shutdowns, installations, and major repair projects as needed.
- Train, coach, and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians; support consistent maintenance standards, procedures, and continuous improvement practices.
California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is an Exempt position. The pay range for this position is 40 to 45 an hour. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.

Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of industrial mechanical and electrical equipment and maintenance practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to diagnose complexequipment issues.
- Ability to prioritize maintenance work based on safety, production impact, equipment condition, and urgency.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide day-to-day direction, technical guidance, training, and coaching to maintenance employees.
- Working knowledge of motors, conveyors, PLC-controlled equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Strong organizational, follow-up, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations, vendors, and other departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance repair and troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience serving as a Maintenance Lead, Senior Maintenance Technician, or similar technical leadership role preferred.
- Experience in packaging, converting, printing, corrugated, or a similar industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled production equipment.
- Experience coordinating preventive maintenance work, equipment repairs, and production-related maintenance priorities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively lead maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and platforms and inspect equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Must be available for off-shift support, emergency call-outs, and planned shutdowns.
