Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 37.5%

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 37.5%

These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job
The Sr. Commercial Underwriting Associate supports the evaluation, structuring, and underwriting of complex asset-based and specialty finance transactions within the Non-Real Estate Lender Finance (NRELF) portfolio. This role performs detailed financial and collateral analysis, develops underwriting recommendations, evaluates credit risk, and partners closely with Relationship Managers and Credit leadership throughout the transaction lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in structured finance, asset-based lending, specialty finance, or commercial credit underwriting and is comfortable analyzing complex financial data, building financial models, and interacting directly with clients and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities:

- Analyze and underwrite commercial lending opportunities with a focus on asset-based and structured finance transactions
- Conduct detailed reviews of financial statements, collateral performance, borrowing base reports, and supporting due diligence materials
- Build and maintain complex financial models to evaluate credit quality, transaction performance, and repayment capacity
- Assess transaction structures, collateral quality, advance rates, cash flows, and risk factors
- Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda and present recommendations to Credit and executive leadership
- Validate borrower information and perform quantitative analysis to support underwriting conclusions
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, mitigants, and emerging risks within proposed transactions
- Participate in client discussions, diligence calls, and ongoing transaction-related communications
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, Legal, Portfolio Management, and Operations teams to facilitate transaction execution
- Support ongoing enhancements to underwriting processes, analysis tools, and reporting methodologies
- Stay informed of industry trends, market developments, and regulatory considerations affecting specialty finance and asset-based lending

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, credit analysis, asset-based lending, structured finance, specialty finance, or commercial banking
- Strong knowledge of commercial credit analysis, financial statement analysis, cash flow underwriting, and complex lending structures
- Experience evaluating collateral-backed transactions, borrowing bases, covenant compliance, and portfolio performance
- Advanced Excel, financial modeling, and quantitative analysis skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with lender finance, warehouse lending, securitizations, CLOs, or other structured finance products is preferred
- Prior experience in a commercial bank, specialty finance company, investment bank, or other credit-focused financial institution is preferred
