About the role

The Operator II supports safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations by performing material handling, production, packaging, and inventory control activities. This role is responsible for maintaining product quality, food safety, and accurate documentation throughout the entire production process, from raw material receiving to processing, packaging, and shipping. Working under the Production Supervisor, the Operator II also contributes to troubleshooting, process improvements, cross-functional support, and overall operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Safety & Compliance

- Follow GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and company safety standards.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including 5S practices.

- Properly wear and use required PPE at all times.

- Complete safety inspections, checklists, and required training.

- Support food safety and compliance requirements.

- Promote a zero-incident safety culture through safe work practices and personal accountability.

- Monitor metal detectors and conduct routine inspections of magnets, sieves, and filters.

- Collect product samples for microbiological, quality, and customer specification testing.

- Support compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

- Identify and escalate quality concerns to ensure product integrity and traceability

Material Handling & Equipment Operation

- Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, jockey trucks, and rotating clamp forklifts.

- Receive, transport, stage, and store raw materials, WIP, packaging materials, and finished goods.

- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper material handling, storage, and traceability practices.

- Weigh inbound and outbound trucks and accurately record load information.

- Verify shipping documentation and pickup details before shipment.

- Execute material movements with a focus on zero errors and compliance with inventory control requirements.

- Ensure adherence to all material traceability and inventory management standards

Production Support

- Operate and monitor deodorizing, grinding, cake reactor, mixing, and roasting equipment according to production schedules and recipe specifications.

- Perform product sampling and quality testing (FFA, pH, moisture, fat content, fineness, and color) and make process adjustments as needed.

- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and maintain accurate quality, food safety, and production documentation.

- Operate butter filtration systems and manage cocoa butter tank inventories, including MES transactions.

- Perform first-level troubleshooting, cleaning, and basic maintenance on production equipment.

- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams, provide backup support for Operator III, and assist roasting or powder operations as needed

Documentation & Recordkeeping

- Accurately record material transactions, inventory movements, truck weights, and production data in SAP and other required systems.

- Maintain production logs, shipping records, COAs, chain-of-custody documentation, and track finished goods inventory.

- Ensure all documentation, tracking boards, and records are completed accurately, legibly, and on time.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

- Lift, push, pull, bend, and carry up to 60 lbs. throughout the workday.

- Stand and work for 12-hour shifts in a manufacturing environment.

- Work safely in high-temperature areas (up to 130°F), around cocoa dust, grease, debris, and slippery surfaces.

- Safely use knives and work on elevated platforms over 20 feet high.

- Operate or become certified on forklifts, jockey trucks, and other material handling equipment.

- Perform basic equipment troubleshooting, waste management activities, and operate support equipment such as cardboard balers.

- Participate in cross-training, support other departments as needed, and maintain production records and performance tracking boards.

- Must be punctual and dependable, with attendance & reliability

- Ability to work shifts beginning at 5:45 AM/PM and ending at 6:00 PM/AM depending on assigned schedule

About you

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Ability to understand, read, and communicate in English.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office is a plus.

- Forklift operation (certification preferred).

- Manufacturing or production environment experience.

- Basic equipment operation knowledge.

- Basic troubleshooting skills.

- Inventory control and recordkeeping experience.
