We are looking for a Principal Accountant - Lending to join our Money Movement team, which is one of the fastest growing parts of the business.
Intuit provides loans (including term loans and revolving credit) to customers, encompassing both small and medium-sized businesses (“SMB”) and consumers.

This role will drive technical accounting and accounting operations for our growing lending business. We are focused on accelerating our growth and scaling the business and this role is critical to our success. There is a tremendous amount of innovation ahead to achieve this scale with institutional quality servicing systems, data, reporting and operational processes.
Responsibilities
- Research and document technical accounting matters and ensure technical accounting requirements are appropriately applied.
- Partner with Product, Legal, Capital Markets and other teams to assess the accounting and financial reporting implications of new lending products, funding structures, and other transactions ahead of launch, setting the accounting direction as the business scales.
- Own accounting policies and practices for our lending products; working closely with internal auditors, external auditors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Assess accounting and financial reporting risk across areas of responsibility. Apply judgment to ensure that these risks are being addressed and to ensure the financial integrity of accounting records and reporting.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across functions who support the lending products (e.g., FP&A, Treasury, Credit Risk, etc.), proactively identifying challenges and driving them to resolution.
- Influence decisions by delivering clear, well-supported accounting conclusions and requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Own and strengthen processes and internal controls for lending products (including SOX requirements). Identify, recommend and drive implementation of improvements to large scale, end-to-end processes and internal controls, leveraging automation and emerging technology where appropriate.
- Oversight and review of certain month/quarter/year end close processes and related responsibilities for lending products (including journal entries and reconciliations). Responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial records.
- Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, for internal and external use, in accordance with US GAAP and in compliance with SOX requirements.
- Work directly with external auditors to support audits of financial statements and testing of internal controls.
- Share technical knowledge broadly and work with team members to accelerate learning and continue to elevate the team's capability across the lending domain.
- Prepare and present reports and technical memos for senior management, and other documentation requested by internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting experience.
- CPA (or equivalent) required.
- Detailed knowledge of US GAAP technical accounting requirements relevant to lending products (including expected credit losses (ASC 326), receivables (ASC 310), interest (ASC 310-20 and ASC 835), transfers of financial assets (ASC 860), consolidation/VIEs (ASC 810), etc.).
- Experience at a ‘Big 4’ public accounting firm and experience auditing entities involved with lending products is a big plus.
- Experience documenting US GAAP technical accounting memos which clearly set out the basis for the conclusions reached and can be presented to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with operational accounting for lending products (including term loans and revolving credit). Experience working for a bank or fintech involved in lending is a big plus.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with systems used for financial reporting (e.g., Oracle, BlackLine, Workiva, etc.).
- Experience with internal controls (including SOX requirements) related to lending products.

The expected base pay range for this position is:
Mountain View $185,000 - $250,500
