Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description
The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring product reliability and compliance within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position focuses on analyzing customer returns, driving corrective and preventive actions, improving manufacturing processes, and supervising final inspection activities to maintain high quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed analysis of customer returned parts and use findings to drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) improvements.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify and address existing issues, preventing internal recurring failures and reducing quality risks.
- Validate customer return material authorizations (RMAs) and define further actions to enhance and stabilize manufacturing processes.
- Supervise a team of six in the final inspection department, providing ongoing guidance, coaching, and training to support performance and development.
- Represent the quality function on the material review board (MRB) for internal rejections and participate in disposition and improvement decisions.
- Support and oversee first article inspection (FAI) activities to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and customer requirements.
- Drive implementation and follow-up of corrective actions across different connector product lines to maintain consistent quality levels.
- Participate in internal audits and quality reviews, contributing to continuous improvement of quality systems and processes.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience working as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing or aerospace-related environment.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and tools to identify, document, and resolve quality issues.
- Hands-on experience with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including planning, implementation, and effectiveness verification.
- Familiarity with AS9102 requirements and first article inspection (FAI) processes in aerospace applications.
- Ability to supervise and lead a team in a final inspection or quality control department, including providing coaching and training.
- Experience representing quality assurance on cross-functional teams such as a material review board (MRB).
- Solid understanding of audit practices and participation in internal or external quality audits.
- Ability to work across different connector product lines and manage multiple quality priorities simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in aerospace quality standards and documentation practices.
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives across varied product families, particularly connectors.
- Strong communication skills to clearly present findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to cross-functional teams.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and customer support teams to resolve quality concerns.
Work Environment
The role operates within a structured manufacturing and quality assurance environment focused on aerospace-grade connector products. The Quality Engineer works closely with final inspection teams, production staff, and cross-functional groups such as the material review board. The position involves hands-on analysis of returned parts, review of documentation, and participation in audits and process improvement activities. Work is typically performed on-site in inspection and production areas, with regular interaction across different connector lines and adherence to established quality procedures and standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
