Description

Amazon is seeking an experienced Corporate Development Leader who will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnership activities in areas that include robotics, AI, logistics and supply chain. This leader will be a key business partner to senior leadership in the WW Operations and Robotics teams and will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who can make convincing, data-based arguments, enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The selected candidate will act as a primary contact in supporting Amazon business units and senior leadership through industry research, strategy development, due diligence, valuation analyses, deal structuring, term sheet and contract negotiations, and internal and external relationship building.

This position is located in Boston, MA. Consideration will be given to locations in San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA in select cases.

Key job responsibilities
• Identify appropriate opportunities that support Amazon's strategic priorities through interaction with senior business leaders, investment bankers, venture capitalists, and organic pipeline generation
• Partner with Amazon businesses to evaluate expansion and growth opportunities
• Evaluate the benefits of potential acquisitions, investments and partnerships, and manage the process of building both internal and external consensus
• Act as a subject matter expert on valuation and deal structuring
• Lead all pre-transaction diligence efforts
• Evaluate synergy opportunities and risks in potential transactions
• Negotiate key legal documents and bring transactions over the finish line
• Work with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, legal, finance, tax, accounting, and senior management to execute transactions from term sheet to integration
• Establish processes and strategy that enable Amazon to continue to build a leading corporate development competency

About the team
Corporate Development is a small, collaborative team that values authentic individuals who think creatively and proactively seek opportunities to advance Amazon’s growth through inorganic efforts, including mergers, acquisitions, investments, and partnerships. The team sits at the intersection of Amazon’s strategy and the broader technology and innovation ecosystem, partnering closely with business leaders to analyze markets, technologies, and companies that accelerate Amazon’s mission and long-term growth. Bringing together expertise in strategy, M&A, and integration, the team leads the end-to-end process of sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and integrating acquisitions, investments, and strategic partnerships across Amazon’s businesses.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above
- Experience with financial analysis and modeling
- 7+ years of experience in technology corporate development, private equity, investment banking and/or venture capital
- Experience creating and analyzing M&A and investment processes for a wide variety of transactions
- History of successfully completing high-level, end-to-end negotiations
- Very strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

- MBA
- Experience leading large, fast-moving projects
- Strong first chair experience leading the full M&A process lifecycle
- Ability to build and maintain a network of senior-level relationships to facilitate deal flow
- Experience aligning and driving cross-functional groups
- Domain experience in robotics, AI, logistics, or supply chain technology
- Demonstrated ability to operate in highly visible, ambiguous situations and drive clarity from complexity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
