CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department

We have an exciting opportunity to come and join our join our dynamic Patient Services team in Sale Hospital for long service leave cover, which may then lead to a permanent position.

We are looking for positive, motivated individual, with high attention to detail to join our great team in providing exceptional health service delivery.

About the Role

This role is a temporary position that will cover LSL from November 30th 2026 until April 30th 2027. There will be 3 weeks training for the position which will be supported by the incumbent for the successful candidate.

The Pre-Admission Nurse participates in a multi-disciplinary team assessment and management of preadmission clinic patients ensuring effective communication and continuity of care in preparation for the elective surgery.

The position provides support to Endoscopy and Specialty Perioperative Patient Booking and waitlist management as required within the Pre-Admission Clinic.

The successful candidate will provide preoperative screening of patients before admission as per CGH Policy along with post operative telephone consultations for CGH surgical patient audits.

It also requires the candidate to collaborate with the Waitlist Officer to assist with surgical patient waitlisting management as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

You have a genuine passion for nursing, providing world-class patient care and adding value to regional healthcare. You will have:

- At least 12 months experience   in a comparable role   within Preadmission or Surgical Unit or Perioperative setting

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

- A true commitment to delivering high quality patient care

- Current Registration with AHPRA
