We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Senai, Johor on a 6-month contract . Operating as the senior leadership level above our buying team, you will oversee site purchasing operations, drive critical material shortage escalations, manage supplier performance, and maintain optimal inventory controls. You will partner directly with site planning, program management, commodity teams, and customer leadership to ensure zero line stops and seamless production output.
Detailed Description
- Oversee site purchasing activities to meet customer commits; lead high-level supplier escalations, expedites, and negotiations to resolve severe material shortages and delivery bottlenecks.
- Direct and guide the site purchasing team (including Buying Team Leaders and Buyers); set priorities, resolve complex operational blockers, and drive team execution against tight contract timelines.
- Oversee site inventory forecasting, reporting, and action planning; drive strategies to optimize stock levels, prevent overstocking, and meet site financial targets.
- Act as the primary purchasing escalation point for customer teams, site planning, engineering, and program management; communicate supply chain risks and mitigation actions clearly.
- Maintain high standards of SAP data integrity, clean-up operations, and purchasing workflows; ensure compliance with logistics, import/export, and regulatory standards.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Work Experience (Strict Cut-Off):
- Degree Holder: Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain purchasing/procurement within a manufacturing environment (semiconductor experience preferred), including at least 2–3 years in a leadership/people management role .
- Diploma Holder: Minimum 15 years of experience in supply chain purchasing/procurement within a manufacturing environment (semiconductor experience preferred), including at least 4–5 years in a leadership/people management role .
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced hands-on proficiency with SAP (ERP/MRP) purchasing and inventory modules.
- Strong expertise in Clear-To-Build (CTB) tracking, global logistics/freight coordination, and supplier contract/commercial negotiations.
Soft Skills:
- High-level stakeholder management, crisis negotiation, and executive communication skills.
