Role Purpose
The Head of Rx Marketing is a core member of the Country Leadership Team and leads a team of Brand Managers responsible for shaping and executing brand and portfolio strategy across a portfolio of mature brands with strong growth potential. This leader drives impactful HCP engagement and trade activation, while leading strategic initiatives to protect, differentiate, and unlock value from established assets.
A key priority is to lead portfolio strategy and lifecycle management , including identification of new sources of growth —whether through repositioning, channel activation, or portfolio expansion via business development (BD) . The role partners closely with Sales, Medical, Trade, and Commercial Excellence to ensure focused execution, marketing capability uplift, and long-term portfolio sustainability.
This position requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, people leadership, and commercial instinct—balancing near-term performance with future growth creation in a competitive and evolving market environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Strategy & Lifecycle Management
- Define and lead the commercial strategy for the full Rx portfolio, with a focus on growing mature brands
- Prioritize resource allocation and marketing investments across brands and lifecycle stages
- Identify new growth opportunities through repositioning, adjacent indications, or BD partnerships
2. Legacy Brand Defence & Competitive Response
- Lead cross-functional strategy to defend and differentiate key legacy brands in the face of evolving competition
- Develop integrated specialist, GP, and Trade plans to sustain volume and share
- Monitor market trends and adjust plans to protect long-term brand equity and commercial performance
3. Promotion & Channel Activation
- Oversee omnichannel planning and field force enablement for impactful HCP and pharmacy engagement
- Guide messaging, content, and promotional material development across the portfolio
- Ensure compliance, operational readiness, and campaign impact measurement
4. People Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and coach a team of Brand Managers, fostering ownership and accountability
- Actively support development plans and capability growth aligned with marketing excellence
- Serve as a role model for local brand planning, insight generation, and collaboration
5. Cross-Functional & LT Contribution
- Actively contribute to the Country Leadership Team and overall business strategy
- Partner with Sales, Medical, Trade, Regulatory, and Commercial Excellence to drive aligned execution
- Lead commercial input into launch planning, lifecycle transitions, and BD evaluations
- Partner with the CHC BUM to ensure integration and synergy of Rx and CHC efforts—especially in shared channels (GPs, pharmacies), messaging coherence, and joint campaigns
- Act as the key local contact for Global Marketing, Global Commercial Excellence and Regional Commercial leadership, ensuring alignment of strategies, sharing insights, and influencing portfolio decisions
6. Performance Management
- Monitor portfolio KPIs (sales, MS%, campaign ROI, profitability) and ensure execution discipline
- Leverage data, CRM, and insights to adjust plans and mitigate risks
- Support budget cycles and contribute to strategic forecasting and business reviews
6. KOLs Management
- Understanding the role of KOLs in Rx marketing
- Ability to build & maintain the business relationships with KOLs
Role Scope
- Develop and execute the brand strategy and commercial roadmap, translating business ambitions into actionable plans that drive sustainable growth.
- Lead lifecycle management of established brands, identifying opportunities for customer activation, competitive differentiation, portfolio expansion, and business development.
- Drive data- and insight-based decision-making to optimize performance, prioritize investments, and identify growth opportunities.
- Partner closely with Sales, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, and other key functions to ensure successful execution and alignment across the organization.
- Lead change initiatives and continuously improve ways of working, ensuring operational excellence and strong field execution.
Qualifications
- University degree in Marketing, Business, Pharmacy, Medicine, or Life Sciences; MBA or advanced business education is an advantage.
- 7–10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical marketing experience, with a strong track record of growing mature/legacy Rx brands through lifecycle management, customer activation, and competitive defense.
- Experience in GP and pharmacy channel activation, advertising and media strategy, trade collaboration, and business development or portfolio expansion initiatives.
- Proven people leadership experience, including leading, developing, and coaching marketing teams and Brand Managers or equivalent roles.
- Strong strategic, analytical, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, work effectively across functions and geographies, and communicate fluently in English (additional languages are a plus).
