About this role
TopFloor is looking for an organised and sharp Finance Intern to join our dynamic team. The Finance Intern will support the internal finance operations by combining standard financial administration with unique touchpoint management related to client billing, contractor / payroll tracking, and project-based cost analysis. It is ideal for a proactive recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in a B2B professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Accounting & Financial Operations
- Assist in processing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including vendor invoices and client billing.
- Enter daily financial transactions and receipts accurately into accounting software (SAGE).
- Support monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations by matching internal records with finances and statements.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial filing systems for receipts, payment vouchers and contracts.
Payroll & Compensation Support (HR Consulting Context)
- Assist the finance and HR teams in gathering and organizing timesheets, contractor invoices, and payroll input data.
- Help track internal employee expenses, benefits allocations, and consultant travel reimbursements.
- Support basic calculations or data verification for client-facing or internal payment data, ensuring strict confidentiality.
Budgeting, Reporting, Compliance & Analysis
- Support the Finance Manager in tracking departmental and project-based budgets against actual expenditures.
- Help prepare periodic financial reports, expense variance summaries, and cash flow tracking sheets.
- Assist in compiling data and documentation needed for internal reviews, tax preparations, or annual audits.
Requirements
- Must be aligned to the values of the TopFloor brand values;
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrable skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic formulas).
- Familiarity with accounting software (SAGE) is a strong advantage.
- Should understand how to use the Google based work systems (Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive).
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and data privacy (handling sensitive payroll and financial records).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Should possess demonstrable communication (written, verbal and non-verbal) and self-leadership skills.
- Student Membership with Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is preferred.
- The internship may require occasional travel to client sites.
