Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.

Casual Site Operative
Looking for a flexible, active role where you can make a real difference in your local community?
We're seeking Casual Site Operatives to help deliver excellent customer service across our Household Waste Recycling Centres. Working outdoors as part of a supportive team, you'll assist residents with recycling and waste disposal, promote reuse and recycling, and help keep sites safe, clean and efficient.
You'll have regular contact with the public, helping customers dispose of waste correctly while ensuring high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained.
What we're looking for:
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- A positive, reliable and flexible approach.
- Ability to work outdoors in a busy environment.
- Confidence dealing with a wide range of customers.
- Waste management experience is desirable but not essential.
