About this role

CDO in Telefonica builds the digital products and platforms that power Telefónica’s future growth. Our main role is to anticipate the future and shape it. We deliver on this mission by identifying potential threats and anticipating how to seize potential opportunities.

We are a focused team: fewer, bigger, better projects, prioritized together with the Telefónica Operating Businesses (OBs) and measured on outcomes, not activity. We work by a high-impact culture that you will recognize from day one: give our best, we challenge our limits and we rise together.

The role

CDO area is hiring a passionate Senior Product Manager (6+ years of product management experience) who wants to create direction where the problem is still unclear. You will own a strategic product end to end, from the first discovery questions to a product that delivers measurable value for customers and for the business. This is a senior role: we do not expect you to receive a brief, we expect you to decide which problems are worth solving and to bring others with you.

As a Senior Product Manager you will:

- Anticipate customer problems before they become obvious and turn customer understanding into clear product choices that others can follow.

- Define the vision and direction of your product together with your technical and design leads, and align stakeholders around it before significant investment is made.

- Lead discovery before delivery: frame the problem, challenge assumptions, test hypotheses and decide with incomplete information.

- Own the value case of your product area: judge which opportunities deserve investment now and which will compound later and negotiate priorities and roadmap with the OBs.

- Lead execution through ambiguity. Turn hard trade-offs into a clear narrative and a quality bar that the team can test its work against and create and defend your Product Initiation Document (PID) and your Product Requirement Document (PRD).

- Maintain and prioritize the backlog together with your Engineering Manager and Data&AI team mates and understand technical opportunities and constraints.

- Identify where technology, data and AI create real customer value and define what quality means for AI-powered experiences.

- Use your product data, together with our Digital Analytics team, to bring insight into every decision.

- Settle competing positions between teams, resolving them at the level where the decision belongs, and escalate with context and a proposal when it sits above you.

- Raise the bar around you: open your own decisions and drafts to challenge, review the work of less experienced colleagues and mentor them.

- Claim problems before anyone assigns them, and judge well which ones to carry and which to route to whoever is better placed to decide.

We expect you:

- To have at least 6 years of experience creating and developing digital products, with real examples of ambiguous problems you framed and solved. Examples in your résumé will be much appreciated.

- To have proven experience in product strategy, roadmap creation and backlog management, with Jira as a tool.

- To understand the basics of product design (UX/UI), customer journeys, user research and prototyping, with Figma as the design tool.

- To understand the basics of development (front-end, back-end, APIs and release cycles), enough to discuss technical trade-offs with engineers as a peer.

- To be self-sufficient managing your product data (PowerBI, Databricks) and to base decisions on evidence.

- To have experience in tools, platforms or workflows that use AI, and a clear point of view on how to measure their quality.

- To have strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with business counterparts, including handling conflict and aligning different interests.

- To have experience working with cross-functional and remote teams, where the people who decide whether the product succeeds do not report to you.

- To be a great communicator: you will interact with many stakeholders, from squads to senior leaders.

- To have an advanced level of English and Spanish, enough to lead meetings and workshops in multinational environments. Portuguese and German are a plus.

- To have excellent writing skills when creating documents and user stories.

- To bring strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills, and to be highly organized, motivated and comfortable with uncertainty and complexity.

The nature of the challenge

- You will operate in high-ambiguity environments where problems are not fully defined, and solutions must be built from first principles. Structuring complexity and making informed decisions on time is essential.

- You will make fast decisions with autonomy, with few precedents and no established playbooks. This requires strong ownership, resilience and a clear bias towards execution and impact.

- You will switch between executive conversations and hands-on product and technical challenges, working with multidisciplinary teams.

We will value:

- Experience in cybersecurity products or services, for example security operations (SOC) and the needs of analysts and operators who use the product every day.

- Experience in agentic or automation products that use AI to improve operational efficiency or to redefine customer experience.

- Experience in Sovereign Cloud as a clear bet within the European Union, focusing on distributed sovereign cloud and increase confidentiality in private clouds or air-gap environments.

- Experience in Defense related industries with a digital perspective.

Experience working with a telecommunications operator or with products deployed across several countries.
