The Opportunity

The Enterprise Architect - Infrastructure proactively and holistically leads enterprise architecture activities that shape the strategy, standards, and target-state direction for infrastructure and cloud capabilities across the organization. This role guides the development and management of infrastructure and cloud solutions, including hybrid cloud, public cloud, private cloud, data center, network, compute, storage, identity, endpoint, observability, resiliency, shared infrastructure services, and enterprise platform foundations.

He or she has a deep understanding of business goals, enterprise technology outcomes, operational needs, security requirements, cost drivers, and the infrastructure capabilities required to support scalable, secure, resilient, and modern solutions. The Infrastructure Enterprise Architect provides leadership, analysis, and design guidance to ensure infrastructure and cloud decisions align with business priorities, enterprise architecture governance, cybersecurity expectations, technology standards, and long-term operational supportability. This role creates and maintains deliverables that define the organization's current and future-state infrastructure and cloud direction, including reference architecture, roadmaps, standards, reusable patterns, lifecycle guidance, and architecture decisions that enable targeted business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and maintain enterprise infrastructure and cloud architecture standards, reference models, guardrails, and target-state blueprints aligned to business strategy, security requirements, regulatory expectations, and enterprise architecture principles.

- Lead architecture direction for hybrid cloud, public cloud, private cloud, data center, compute, storage, network, end-user, platform, observability, and resiliency capabilities to ensure scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology foundations.

- Develop multi-year infrastructure and cloud roadmaps that modernize legacy platforms, reduce technical debt, improve service resiliency, and enable business growth.

- Establish infrastructure and cloud architecture principles, patterns, and reusable blueprints for landing zones, connectivity, identity, automation, disaster recovery, backup, monitoring, and operational support.

- Act as a trusted advisor across IT, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, product, application, infrastructure operations, and vendor teams to translate business outcomes into infrastructure and cloud capabilities.

- Provide architectural leadership for complex initiatives such as cloud migration, platform modernization, network transformation, identity modernization, disaster recovery, infrastructure automation, and enterprise platform enablement.

Plan and Govern the Infrastructure and Cloud Portfolio

- Lead analysis of the infrastructure and cloud environment to identify critical deficiencies, duplication, operational risk, resiliency gaps, cost optimization opportunities, and modernization priorities.

- Develop and apply infrastructure and cloud architecture standards through enterprise architecture governance, including minimum viable architecture, architecture decision records, lifecycle standards, and exception management.

- Partner with infrastructure operations, cloud platform, cybersecurity, application, data, integration, and vendor teams to ensure infrastructure decisions support enterprise priorities and operational readiness.

- Guide project and product teams on infrastructure, cloud, security, resiliency, availability, performance, scalability, and cost implications of solution designs.

- Ensure architecture alignment across cloud providers, data centers, networks, edge locations, collaboration platforms, enterprise tooling, and managed service providers.

- Oversee documentation of infrastructure and cloud architecture decisions, reference architectures, standards, roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and architecture review outcomes.

- Facilitate infrastructure, cloud, and platform technology evaluations and vendor selections with objective criteria for capability fit, risk, security, cost, operational support, and strategic alignment.

- Provide architecture governance and decision leadership for enterprise infrastructure and cloud solutions, balancing innovation, reuse, compliance, reliability, and cost management.

Key Linkages

- Strong linkage with enterprise architecture, infrastructure operations, cloud platform, cybersecurity, application delivery, data, integration, procurement, and vendor management teams.

- Executive-level relationships with BV ITLT and technology leaders responsible for enterprise platforms, infrastructure services, cloud adoption, resiliency, and cybersecurity.

- Strong relationships with business technology leaders, product owners, process owners, developers, administrators, infrastructure engineers, cloud engineers, security architects, and managed service providers.

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience designing or governing hybrid cloud, public cloud, private cloud, data center, network, compute, storage, identity, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions in complex enterprise environments.

- Good understanding of enterprise architecture practices, cloud adoption patterns, infrastructure modernization, security-by-design, resiliency, cost optimization, operational support models, technology lifecycle management, and emerging infrastructure and cloud trends.

- Trusted and respected as an infrastructure and cloud thought leader who can influence business leaders, IT leaders, engineering teams, security teams, and vendor partners.

- Technology neutral and outcome-focused, with the ability to evaluate infrastructure and cloud options objectively based on business value, risk, resiliency, security, cost, and long-term supportability.

- Experience with major cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc. including landing zones, identity and access management, network connectivity, governance, monitoring, and cost management.

- Experience developing infrastructure and cloud reference architectures, target-state architectures, modernization strategies, migration roadmaps, standards, and governance artifacts.

- Ability to lead cross-functional architecture discussions and present infrastructure and cloud strategies, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior executives, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

- Experience with infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, configuration management, CI/CD enablement, observability, site reliability engineering practices, and operational readiness patterns.

- Knowledge of network architecture, zero trust, hybrid connectivity, endpoint management, virtualization, containers, storage platforms, database infrastructure, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity practices.

- Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, TOGAF, ITIL, CISSP, CCSP, or related infrastructure and cloud certifications.

- Experience partnering with cybersecurity, procurement, vendor management, finance, and operations teams to evaluate cloud consumption, vendor offerings, managed services, risk, compliance, and total cost of ownership.

- Experience in large enterprise or consulting environments supporting infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, platform engineering, enterprise platform enablement, merger integration, or outsourcing transition initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis, mathematics or a related study, or equivalent experience

Experience

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development

- Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments

- Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models

- Good understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
