Job Summary/Description:

Gray Media is seeking a PHP / Laravel Developer who thrives on variety and turns evolving business needs into reliable, modern web applications. Working with the Gray Digital Technology team, you will build, enhance, and modernize internal tools across the company, often moving between multiple projects and delivering practical solutions quickly. This is a remote position.

Duties/Responsibilities essential will include (but are not limited to) the following:

Design, develop, and maintain secure, reliable, and maintainable web applications using PHP 8+ and Laravel.
Rapidly turn business needs into practical, reliable internal applications and workflow tools.
Manage work across multiple applications and projects, shifting priorities as business needs evolve.
Enhance and support applications used in day-to-day company operations.
Modernize legacy PHP systems into maintainable Laravel-based solutions.
Build and maintain internal APIs, third-party integrations, and data workflows.
Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases for individual applications.
Develop accessible, user-friendly forms and interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues and user-reported problems.
Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
Review code, share technical guidance, and help the team apply consistent development, security, and maintainability standards.
Write unit and integration tests to validate functionality and prevent regressions.
Document application behavior, workflows, decisions, and technical implementation details.

Qualifications/Requirements:

3+ years of professional experience developing applications with PHP.
2+ years of professional experience with the Laravel framework.
Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL.
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience deploying, supporting, and maintaining production applications.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose production issues.
Ability to organize and prioritize work across multiple concurrent projects.
Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where requirements and priorities may change.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.

Preferred (but not required):
Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy applications.
Experience building internal business systems, operational tools, or workflow applications.
Familiarity with background jobs, queues, and scheduled tasks.
Experience integrating with third-party APIs and data providers.
Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
Exposure to AWS-hosted environments or cloud-based deployments.
