Searcys at The British Academy are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen brigade. As Sous Chef, you will have the opportunity to create the finest quality dishes and help deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our clients and guests.

You will be based in the main kitchen, working alongside the wider brigade and supporting the senior culinary team across the operation. The role will also involve pastry work, so previous pastry experience is highly desirable , although you do not need to be a dedicated Pastry Chef.

The British Academy for the Promotion of Historical, Philosophical and Philological Studies is the United Kingdom's national academy for the humanities and social sciences. It was established in 1902 and received its Royal Charter in the same year.

Job Description

Job Type: Full Time, 45 hours per week
Salary: £45,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Executive Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food and service.
- Produce food preparation across the operation, including functions and events in different areas of the business.
- Support the training, development and supervision of junior chefs, helping to maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment.
- Work closely with key members of the team to plan and deliver food requirements across all areas of the business.
- Ensure the smooth running of daily kitchen operations and the consistent delivery of the agreed menu offering.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency in line with expectations set by the Executive Chef.
- Support with pastry preparation and production when required. Previous pastry experience would be highly desirable, although you do not need to be a specialist Pastry Chef.
