The Director of Project Controls leads the enterprise project controls function and provides strategic direction for project controls governance, talent, systems, and execution across the full project life cycle. In this role, you will establish consistent standards, tools, and processes while partnering with project execution, engineering, construction, operations, finance, supply chain, and other stakeholders to provide objective visibility into project performance and support timely business decisions. You will lead geographically dispersed teams, align resources with portfolio priorities, strengthen project controls capabilities, and serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex cost, schedule, risk, reporting, and execution matters.

Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Sets the enterprise project controls strategy, governance framework, standards, and oversight practices across planning, cost, schedule, risk, change management, reporting, and document controls
- Provides executive visibility into portfolio and project performance through forecasting, integrated schedules, KPI reporting, variance analysis, and recovery planning to support strategic business decisions
- Ensures effective project controls support throughout the project lifecycle while establishing processes that drive accurate forecasting, performance measurement, cost control, and schedule management
- Leads and develops managers and project controls professionals across multiple business units and geographic locations, aligning organizational structure, staffing, and resources with portfolio priorities and business objectives
- Builds strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders to align project execution with strategic objectives and serve as a trusted advisor on project performance and portfolio health
- Serves as the escalation point for significant cost, schedule, risk, change management, and execution issues, providing guidance and recommendations to support sound decision-making
- Oversees project controls methodologies, systems, reporting tools, and document control processes to ensure consistency, transparency, and reliable project performance information across the portfolio
- Drives continuous improvement through enhanced data quality, analytics, automation, benchmarking, and adoption of project controls best practices
- Provides expert consultation to executive leadership in support of capital planning, portfolio management, and long-term business strategy

Education/Years of Experience:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and ten (10) years of progressive experience in project controls, project management, engineering, construction, operations, or a related capital-project discipline
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution and fifteen (15) years of experience supporting large, complex capital projects in energy, infrastructure, industrial construction, or a comparable environment
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Proven leadership experience managing managers, multidisciplinary teams, and geographically dispersed organizations while developing leaders and technical talent
- Demonstrated expertise in project controls disciplines, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, change management, performance reporting, document controls, and project governance
- Experience establishing and improving project controls processes, standards, systems, reporting, and governance across complex project portfolios
- Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to align project controls priorities with business strategy and capital-delivery objectives
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing, and relationship-building skills with the ability to translate complex project data into executive-level insights and recommendations
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable scheduling tools
- Preferred: Advanced proficiency with enterprise project controls, cost management, document management, and business intelligence platforms, including Procast and ProCore
- Preferred: Expertise in critical-path analysis, cost and schedule risk analysis, earned value management, benchmarking, portfolio analytics, and project controls assurance
- Preferred: Track record of leading digital transformation, data governance, analytics, and automation initiatives that improve project execution performance
- Preferred: Strong collaboration experience with EPC contractors, engineering firms, vendors, and contingent workforce partners
- Preferred: PMP, AACE, PSP, CCP, or equivalent project management or project controls certification
