Job Summary
The Strategic Buyer owns the commercial relationship and long-term performance of assigned suppliers supporting Hologic's production and indirect requirements, including suppliers that manufacture components unique to Hologic. The role supports sourcing, negotiations, cost reduction, supply risk mitigation, and item master data, and owns supplier on-time delivery (OTD).
This position owns strategic procurement activities and supports tactical execution, bridging the Commodity Manager, who sets category strategy, and the Tactical Buyer, who executes purchase orders. The Strategic Buyer uses independent judgment to resolve material issues.
Essential Duties
The candidate may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the responsibilities below, as reasonably required by business needs.
- Lead site sourcing in support of the global sourcing and commodity teams, including spend analysis, business award scenarios, cost models, and RFQs.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across the supplier lifecycle, from evaluation, selection, and onboarding through risk mitigation and offboarding, including dual-sourcing strategies with the global sourcing team.
- Support global sourcing on supply agreement negotiations and monitor contract compliance.
- Drive cost reduction through the VIP pipeline and value engineering. Support the annual standard cost update and own purchase price variance review and material quotes.
- Own supplier OTD and long-term performance through scorecards, supplier reviews, and QBRs, and drive actions that reduce delivery risk and business impact.
- Resolve supplier delivery and quality issues with cross-functional partners, including root cause and corrective action.
- Partner with data governance and cross-functional teams to maintain accurate item master data and strategic ERP parameters, including pricing, lead times, MOQ, safety stock, and sourcing rules. Support new supplier and part number setup, as well as engineering and supplier changes.
- Review demand, MRP signals, inventory, and open POs with Planning and Manufacturing. Share forecasts with suppliers and escalate supply risks.
- Guide Tactical Buyers on PO requirements, transactional exceptions, escalated issues, and end-of-life materials. Process POs as needed.
- Improve inventory turns through programs such as supplier Kanban, and lead continuous improvement and site cross-functional projects.
- Represent Supply Chain on New Product teams and define supply chain strategy for new products.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred, and/or equivalent experience.
Experience
- 5+ years of procurement experience; medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with an ERP system, MRP logic, and item master data; Oracle experience is a plus.
Skills
- CPIM, CPSM, CPM, or PMP certification preferred; APICS involvement is a plus.
- Negotiation, cost modeling, and total cost analysis.
- Supplier relationship management, performance management, and risk management, including dual-sourcing strategy with the global sourcing team.
- Working knowledge of a PLM system such as Agile, change control, and quality processes.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally.
- Accurate, dependable, and audit-ready, with experience supporting internal and external audits. Ability to work to tight requirements with minimal supervision and sound escalation judgment.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel and data analysis.
Compensation
The annualized base salary range for this role is $77,800 to $121,700, and the position is eligible for an annual bonus. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, business needs, and market conditions.
