The Executive Director, Net Revenue provides enterprise leadership for the health system's net patient service revenue estimation, accounts receivable valuation, and related financial reporting. This role establishes consistent methodologies, controls, and governance across hospitals and physician organizations; leads the monthly and annual close, forecast, and budget processes; and advises finance and operational leaders on material trends, risks, and opportunities. The Executive Director partners with Revenue Cycle, Managed Care, Reimbursement, Accounting, and entity finance teams to improve accuracy, transparency, and financial performance while ensuring compliance with GAAP, payer contracts, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Executive Director serves as the organization's senior subject matter expert on net revenue and related financial reporting matters, providing strategic guidance on payer performance, contract economics, revenue cycle effectiveness, and industry trends that may impact financial results and long-term strategic objectives.
Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set the enterprise strategy, standards, and governance for net patient service revenue, accounts receivable valuation, and related reserves across hospitals and physician organizations.
- Lead the monthly and annual net revenue close. Ensure estimates are accurate, timely, consistently applied, and supported by clear documentation and effective controls.
- Direct the development of net revenue forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range financial plans. Explain performance against plan and translate volume, rate, payer mix, utilization, denials, and collection trends into actionable financial insight.
- Advise system and entity finance leaders on material net revenue risks, opportunities, accounting judgments, and corrective actions. Present complex analyses and recommendations in a concise manner appropriate for executive decision-making.
- Establish and maintain policies, methodologies, review procedures, and validation standards that support GAAP-compliant revenue recognition, audit readiness, and reliable financial reporting.
- Oversee payer contract modeling and revenue analytics used to evaluate reimbursement changes, contractual performance, and the financial effect of strategic or operational decisions.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle, Revenue Integrity, Coding, Billing, Managed Care, Reimbursement, Accounting, and operational leaders to identify and resolve drivers of revenue leakage, estimate volatility, and avoidable variance.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of net revenue systems, analytics, and automation. Strengthen data governance, reconcile source systems, and reduce reliance on manual processes.
- Monitor changes in accounting guidance, payer requirements, and healthcare regulation. Assess financial reporting implications and direct timely implementation of required changes.
- Build and lead a high-performing net revenue organization, including directors, managers, and analysts as applicable. Set clear expectations, develop talent, support succession planning, and hold leaders accountable for results.
- Direct enterprise initiatives that improve the accuracy, timeliness, transparency, and scalability of net revenue reporting. Establish measurable outcomes and ensure projects are completed within agreed scope and timelines.
- Manage relationships with auditors, consultants, technology vendors, and other external partners supporting net revenue activities, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Licensure Certification and Registration:
- CPA, CHFP, or another relevant professional credential preferred.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare finance, net revenue, reimbursement, accounting, or revenue cycle management.
- At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including responsibility for managers, complex teams, or enterprise-wide functions.
- Demonstrated experience leading net patient service revenue estimation, accounts receivable valuation, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting in a hospital, physician, or integrated health system environment.
- Experience establishing standardized methodologies and internal controls across multiple entities and leading significant process, technology, or organizational change.
- Experience with Kodiak RCA, the Kodiak net revenue platform, is required.
- Experience advising senior finance and operational leaders and presenting material financial matters to executive audiences.
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, healthcare revenue recognition, payer contracting, accounts receivable valuation, and revenue cycle operations.
- Exceptional financial judgment and analytical capability, including the ability to interpret large and complex data sets, test assumptions, identify risk, and develop defensible recommendations.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to finance and non-finance audiences and influence decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Strong strategic planning, program leadership, change management, and project execution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish governance, improve controls, and create sustainable and scalable processes in a complex, highly visible environment.
- Strong working knowledge of net revenue systems, contract modeling tools, enterprise resource planning platforms, data visualization, and advanced spreadsheet analysis.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong teams; coach leaders; establish accountability; and support succession planning.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands, meet close and reporting deadlines, and maintain accuracy and sound judgment under pressure.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and executive presentation skills.
Pay Range:
$180,000.00 USD - $225,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
