Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support to Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology providers while ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care. This role prepares patients for examinations and treatments, assists physicians and nurses during clinical visits and procedures, coordinates diagnostic testing and referrals, and serves as a key point of communication for oncology patients throughout their treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, and chief complaint.
- Prepare patients for physician examinations and treatments.
- Assist Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, APPs, and nurses during patient visits and office procedures.
- Document patient information accurately within the EMR.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, imaging, laboratory testing, and referrals.
- Coordinate prior authorizations when appropriate.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Perform EKGs, injections, catheter care, dressing changes, and other delegated clinical tasks within certification scope.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize equipment following infection prevention guidelines.
- Answer patient phone calls and portal messages, routing clinical concerns appropriately.
- Educate patients on appointment preparation and follow-up instructions.
- Coordinate care with infusion, radiation therapy, imaging, and laboratory departments.
- Monitor inventory and maintain clinic supplies.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and safety standards.

Required
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
- Current BLS Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of clinical medical assistant experience
Preferred
- Oncology experience
- Radiation Oncology experience
- Medical Oncology experience
- EMR experience (NextGen preferred)

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
