About this role

Plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the food services for special events; ensures events are well-organized and efficient; ensures guests receive excellent service during the event; responds to escalated issues and supports the planning of large events.

Supervisory / Leadership responsibilities

- Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of subordinate personnel. Supervises and ensures the continuity of special programs, meetings, and events that are well-organized, effective, and efficient.

- Represents the Kroc Center at various events, conferences, programs, etc.

- Participates in meetings to exchange ideas, develop goals, set priorities, and schedule and analyze current and future programmatic expansion initiatives sharing the perspective of the Food Services Department.

- Position will serve as a daytime, evening or weekend manager for the entire facility along with the rest of the full-time professional staff. This includes Manager on Duty responsibilities.

Food preparation responsibilities

- Supervises, monitors, cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment.

- Plans menus and selects recipes ensuring nutritionally balanced meals.

- Serves food and beverages in a presentable manner.

- Monitors kitchen and dining areas to ensure continued compliance with safety and sanitary regulations.

Financial and administrative responsibilities

- Purchases event items, food, and commodities in appropriate quantities and at economical price.

- Prepares agreements, processes invoices, and ensures prompt payment.

- Prepares and maintains statistical records of meals served.

- Has experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, and food service management.

- Understands meal planning and can create nutritious, appealing menus for a variety of groups and events.

- Knows proper food storage, sanitation, cleaning procedures, and safe food handling practices.

- Is knowledgeable about health codes and can ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

- Can manage budgets, control costs, and order supplies efficiently while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

- Leads with enthusiasm, motivates team members, and creates a positive work environment.

- Builds strong relationships with staff, volunteers, Salvation Army officers, community partners, and guests.

- Enjoys serving others and takes pride in delivering high-quality food and hospitality experiences.

- Can prepare and serve safe, delicious meals for large groups while maintaining exceptional standards.

- Is comfortable managing multiple priorities and ensuring equipment, facilities, and kitchen operations run smoothly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, with a Culinary Degree preferred, and

Four years in food service management and supervisory experience, or

any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid State Drivers License

Food Management certification

Food Handlers certification

Physical Requirements:

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.

Ability to drive Salvation Army vehicles in a safe manner.

Working Conditions:

Work is partly performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers. Work is partly performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
